36" Kitchenaid Gas Cooktop
Just fyi Kitchenaid has made a gas cooktop that you cannot get clean. The flange around all the burners has some kind of finish that will not clean with soap and water and cannot be scrubbed as the finish will come off. In frustration I used oven cleaner that removed the finish and needed to buy a new one. What kind of design is this that cannot be cleaned. The lead designer of this product Jason Tippetts was not interested or concerned when I emailed him about the product. I spent over an hour on the phone with customer service who had no solution. My last Kitchenaid cooktop was just fine. Dont buy the new one.

Ineffective heating
Pros: looks great
Cons: Ineffective heating, with small and midsize (8" to 12" wide) pots and pans takes a very long time to heat/cook food. Most of the heat is going outside the pans/pots and this can be clearly seen by the fact that the handles of the pots get really hot. As some other reviewers have mentioned takes really long to heat water or cook on this cooktop compared to our previous cooktops.
The grates are heave duty but also very tall thus placing the pots far above the flame. We inverted the grates and the heat delivery is very effective. I wish the grates were not so tall.

Grates are higher and blocking the flames.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The design and the BTU is good. I like the easy movement of cookware around the entire cooking surface and have a gloss finish that complements the ceramic glass surfaces. The problem is the grates height is causing the flames to spread out loosing heat between the burner and the pot. Grates are heavy duty which is good but they are blocking the flames. I wish the grates were not blocking the flames and the grates hight was less. The pans takes a very longer time to heat/cook food. Most of the heat is going outside the pans/pots and this can be clearly seen by the fact that the surroundings and outer handles of the pots get really hot. It takes really long to heat water or cook on this cooktop compared to my previous electric cooktop.

It is beautiful to look at
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is beautiful to look at The cooktop is beautiful to look at and great to cook with, but it is terrible to try to clean it. One can barely get fingerprints off of the stainless steel the finish of it is very rough and makes cleaning very difficult. I’ll go crazy seeing fingerprints on stainless steel. Wish I knew how to make this an easier chore. I paid to have the cooktop installed directly from the company, but when the delivery person brought it my countertop was not wide enough. They have yet to refund my money for not installing my cooktop. It has been since January 3rd.

Nice looking but Poor performance
I purchased this 36" countertop with great expectation to its 20K burner that I plan to do quick stir-fry. After its installation, I immediately realized it will not perform by looking at the distance between the burner and the rack, which is too far apart. As I lit up the burner to boil water in a sauce pan, I noticed the tip of the flame will not even touch a pan on the rack because the flame ring is too FLAT. As it stated the center burner would deliver 20K BTU. I used a Japanese Iwatani (15K) portable tabletop propane burner, pouring one liter of water (same temperature) into a sauce pan (8" bottom), it took 2 minutes 20 seconds to boil. With the same condition, I used the 20K BTU burner, it took 3 minutes 31 seconds to boil. I sent e-mail to KitchenAid consumer Correspondence Team and I was told to call KitchenAid 800 number and it led me to no where.

Solid Cooktop
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this cooktop along with a complete KitchenAid package for a new home. The design is fine and it seems to light quickly, heat evenly and provide precise control as dials are turned. We find the printing around each knob to be quite faint, which will be less of an issue as we become more familiar with it. It's not a very deep cooktop, so we are wondering how well it will hold multiple pans and pots when preparing a large meal. I do wish the center grate could be lifted without having to move one of the side grates, however, the tabs on the center grate are under the side grates.

Looks beautiful, functions poorly
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We built a brand new home and purchased this range for our kitchen. It looks beautiful, but does not perform well. In order to boil water I have to use the largest, center burner on the highest setting, and even with that it is just a low boil. The other burners barely get a boil and I find pasta will get soggy before it properly cooks, (unless I use the center burner). The flame seems inconsistent and I can hear it flickering, as if the gas is sputtering. Sadly, I find myself missing our 10-year-old electric range in our rental home, which performed much better than this. I was really excited to start using gas, and to have a brand new, nice range, unfortunately this did not deliver.

Great Cooktop
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my new 5 burner cooktop. I love the different size burners. As with all gas cooktops that I have owned, it's difficult to achieve a low, simmer temperature. I did have one issue when I thought I heard the gas flame ignite but it either went out or did not in fact ignite. When I eventually noticed this, I turned the knob off, which passed through one click of the built-in ignitor. The gas above the cooktop flashed on me. Scary but no damage done. That's the first time I've ever had that happen to me with a gas cooktop. So I know that I must be very careful with this cooktop.
