Rated 5 out of 5 by sjsaul from Looks New Again! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought a 5 gallon bucket to restore an aging pergola. There was a lot of lose paint and the wood was showing its age (as you can see from the attached before photos). I was able to cover the entire pergola with two coats of Kilz in a weekend because it went on so easily. It looks very clean and the primer filled in cracks and gaps. Additionally, the existing paint that wouldn't scrape off is locked down. I considered getting a primer + paint and skipping the primer step, but I'm confident that these coats of primer are going to make a HUGE difference in extending the life of the structure and finish coat.

Rated 2 out of 5 by MelissaG from Good Product But Didn't Cover Water Stains Used the premium to prime a double staircase and ceiling. Since I was dealing with various colors and textures because of water damage and repair and a dark wall paint, I selected the premium version and paid more to make sure I got the right product. While I will commend that the odor was minor and the overall product was good (didn't drip a lot, rolled nicely) my problem is that it wasn't hiding the stains on the ceiling. They were fairly minor discolorations but no matter how many times I went over that area it just would not cover it. Finally I just gave up and when I went to paint I just went over it several times with the finish paint.

I have 100 yr old cedar siding and usually the paint/primer starts peeling after about 3 yrs. The "professional" recommended a pressure washer and said washing with TSP is unnecessary as mold or mildew only grow in shade. However I suspect primer adhesion problems are due to mold/mildew on this 100 yr old siding. The house is almost finished except for the most weathered south side which has one coat of Kilz over the damaged siding. (You can see the water pressure tracks and the siding is fuzzy and abraded). I'm thinking another coat might help adhesion and also cover some of the damage. Thoughts?

I knew that it would be a ton of work to pull that down and try to paint old cracked plaster walls, so I decided to try to paint it. I can't even tell you how pleased I am with the outcome! This product went on evenly, dried quickly, and even covered waxed crayon drawings! I expected the walls to be "fragile" once it was all done but there has been no pealing or cracking at all. This product boned well to the paneling. I highly recommend Kilz premium primer!

I decided to take on the project of peeling wallpaper, washing and scrubbing walls, mudding and sanding all by myself just to see if I could and your primer gave me reassurance that my walls would come out look great. I used your paint afterwards and my kitchen looks amazing! I have used your products while in college and I have always been very pleased and I have always loved how thick the products go on and how they cover up imperfections. I have more rooms to pull wallpaper off and your products will be there to help me along the way just as they always have.

It had been owned by an old man and had been very poorly taken care of. When we walked in it smelled like someone had died in there but later found it to be tons and tons of urine tains on the floor from pets. all the floor covering had been stripped. The ceilings were yellow with cigarette smoke. We painted the floor with the kilz premium and the smell virtually disappeared and used the kilz ceiling paint and they are bright white again. Very pleased with your products!

Rated 5 out of 5 by DIYMOM50 from Fantastic paint job [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I repainted house trim and garage door, after sanding, then priming with Kilz Premium. Some of the particle board panels on the garage door were water damaged and all the old paint had to be scraped off & was then lightly sanded. I put a thin coat of Kilz on, then lightly sanded. Then another mod coat of Kilz was applied. After an hour we painted the entire garage door with 2 coats of paint and it turned out beautiful. My 14 year old son has now learned the great benefits of Kilz and some basics of painting, as this is his first big paint job. This Kilz works great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jheist41 from question about tackiness Hello, my dad and now me have always used Kilz as our choice of primer for blocking stains and prepping surfaces for color. My problem is that I had an 18-year old inexperienced person sand, clean and prime two outdoor adirondack chairs. The sanding and cleaning was done fine. The Kilz applcation is another story-two very thick coats. A week later there are bubbles which are wet when pushed upon, tackiness an drips. What is the best fix for this? Stripping all the Kilz off, sanding, wire-brushing? I'm at a loss. The topcoat color will clearly just make a big mess, messier.
