what is the viscosity of this primer and how much can it be thinned for spraying? I use a small HVLP gun with a shop vac.
Hi bigdave,
Thanks for your questions! The viscosity of this primer is 95-105 KU. We don't recommend thinning this product with anything and should be used at packaged consistency. It's best to use an airless sprayer with a .015" - .021" and 60 mesh tip rather than an HVLP sprayer with our products. Using an HVLP sprayer may result in issues with the sprayer clogging or not spraying evenly. Best - Sara

What is the expected coverage, surprised there is no mention of it in details.

Great but tough cleanup
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just finished priming most of a huge apartment. The Kilz latex covered well and had very little odor, but I learned a tough lesson. I finally coughed up the money for pricey brushes and since I was painting over multiple days, I decided to wrap my brushes in plastic and stash them in the fridge. Overnight, the Kilz hardened and clumped and made the brush cleanup a nightmare. I should have read up a little more before doing what I typically do with latex paint. Overall I’m pleased, but if anyone from Kilz has tips on getting the rest of this stuff out of my brushes, I’d very much appreciate it!

Saved my paint
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a new house and very bland walls. I decided to try my hand at painting the living room a rich green color with paint that had supposed primer in it. No matter how many coats or the technique it dried streaky. I learned the walls were soaking up the new paint unevenly due to the thin layer of paint the builders had used hence the streaks. 3 gallons of paint for one room later I was about to give up. My Dad suggested using Kilz2 to prime the wall so that the paint color could go on evenly and it worked like a charm! Wish I had found this before I wasted money on 3 gallons of not so cheap paint. Thanks Kilz!

Works like described
I bought 5 Gallon pail 5 years ago. Used close to half. Opened it up the other day and is just as good as the day I purchased it. Painting over Dark Red paint needed three coats to cover completely. Only needed 1 coat of finishing paint and bought the cheapest brand I could find. Recently I helped a friend who is a heavy smoker and the walls where disgustingly sticky and streaky. Wiping it down was no use, we used Kilz to kill the stains and turned out great, you would never know by the walls he smoked inside. I believe its more important to get good primer than it is to have good paint.

This primer continues to peel off of my drywall. It won't stick! I am now dealing with a huge repair job!!
I have been painting houses for over 12 years. I just used KILZ 2 for the first time and it is peeling away from my drywall. It will not adhere. I just primed and painted my entire house, and it is peeling away!! I cannot believe how much repair work I am up against now!! This is the primer that the paint store recommended and I will never use KILZ 2 again! Total waste of money, not to mention the time put in to repair after all the time I spent prepping, priming and painting.....Just to start over!! I could seriously cry right now!! I would not recommend this product to anyone!

Success Depends on the User
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used several gallons of Kilz2 All Purpose both inside and out. I don't understand the critical remarks, but maybe the problem is YOU. Prepare the surface, and be SURE to STIR the primer before you use it. I used it on interior walls, exterior walls, shutters, and window sashes without the first problem. I didn't have problems with runs or coverage. If you get runs, you either didn't stir the primer enough, or you overloaded the brush/roller. You can't put common sense in a paint can, but from reading some of the negative reviews maybe they ought to.

Thank goodness for Kilz 2 Primer
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought a house last fall and have been remodeling ever since. We've gone through 3 five gallon buckets of Kilz preparing new dry-wall and old painted dry-wall and ceilings. The couple who lived there before us had large dogs in the house & smoked and the urine smell was horrible when we bought the property. There were yellow spots on the ceilings too. Kilz 2 Primer has not only blocked the stains but helped kill the odors left behind so that we can live in our dream home!
Thanks Kilz!!

Great! Covered “glazed” paint beautifully!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] At our old house, they had put a shiny glaze over the walls. They did a horrible job, because when light shined on it, you could see the lines where they rolled it on. There was also a texture on the walls, when you felt it, and the Kilz completely covered it and left it smooth! Only 1 coat of the Kilz was needed, such great coverage! We recently moved to a new house, and plan on painting LOTS of wood trim white. We will need a lot of primer to start the process! We are also painting our oak cabinets white, which will also require Kilz primer. Thanks for your wonderful products!

Covered puff back damage
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After the worstbfurnace puff back the adjuster had ever seen; professional cleaners could only get the walls to a charcoal grey. One coat of Kilz 2 primer and the walls were bright white and ready for a fresh happy coat of paint. The latex paint adhered so well to the primer that it only needed one coat. (The last time I used the same color over another primer it needed 2 coats)
