Description
The ThermoShield R-42 attic hatch consists of a box made of chipboard 5/8'' thick and a finishing edge MDF with weather stripping foam. The door is made of 1/2'' chipboard laminated on 11'' thick expanded polystyrene. R-42 insulation complies with current requirements. Stable polystyrene insulation doesn't absorb water, while regulatory dimensions make it easy to install the attic hatches between trusses. This product meets the new energy efficiency standards of the RBQ building code.

absolute garbage
Installed for about a month and the chip board had swollen so much it wouldn't slide back down. I shaved the edges so it would slide back down. 6 months later and I go back into the attic and it won't slide down again. I'm going to have to replace it this summer because I'm surely getting a terrible seal now. Just a terrible design. I wish there were reviews when I bought it. Don't make my mistake, DO NOT BUY!
