[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Installed bar horizontally on the garage side of the door going into the house. It is slightly above and to the left of the door knob. It helps Grandma and the rest of us have good support going up the steps and into the door, as well as out again. The bar makes it much easier to grab and shut the door, especially when down the steps from the garage side. The white bar blends in nicely with the white door on the garage side. To install, we drilled all the way through the door and used washers and rounded acorn nuts to secure the bar on the inside. It is a surprisingly helpful improvement!

Rated 5 out of 5 by thirteen from It Grabbed Me What set this bar apart for me is that it looks good. The texturing on the grip surface is very attractive and is suitable for wet hands. Three screws on each end of the bar attach it very securely, but make sure you screw into a wall stud. The end caps cover the screws, as in the photo. I found that the installation was so secure that I could grip the bar and shake the house a little, with no give from the bar. My wife and I are of an age now, and this was our first grab bar, installed vertically opposite a toilet in our half-bath. Now I've got to do the two full bathrooms, and I'll be using these grab bars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Arr-On from Excellent with seperate backing - but... The separately-sold backing plate is superior to others and gives enormous strength and safety. However, the design of this feature does not match the base plate of the grab bar. The cover shroud that hides the base plate and backing plate does not fit properly over the backing plate. Without modification by the installer, the shroud (cover) is "tilted" and leaves a 3/32" gap on one side - exposing the unattractive backing plate. And yes, the installer did use a soft mallet to slowly tap around the periphery in order to get it to fit. It is too small for the base plate. See picture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ambassadorbern from Provides a sense of security I purchased and installed the grab bar for my wife's bathroom, and she loves the sense of security that it offers when getting into or out of the bath tub. The grab bar is made of high quality stainless steel, and the diameter of the bar is large enough to provide a very strong feel. Mamma's now happy, so I am happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Billie from Safety first...always These safety bars are a blessing. All bathrooms should have bars to grab onto when you feel like you are in a slippery bath or shower. It is a small item to add to a bath and really gives me a sense of well being to be able to steady myself whether I am showering or cleaning the shower.
