Yes it can. I use it vertically in my garage for that exact purpose.

It's a great size to support body weight while getting on or off the toilet, or in or out of the tub. Very Sturdy. It's worth the extra couple bucks to get the design that has the flange that hides the screws. That makes it look so much better than having the ugly screw heads exposed. The 24" size made it so it will land on studs in our bathroom wall so we didn't have to use the special anchors if it landed on drywall. Great product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gunner from Excellent safety bar Installed this for the first time last week along with another 36" bar. I installed them using the Home Care Grab Bar Mounting Anchors through standard sheet rock. Was extremely easy to install. I would recommend installing/drilling one side first, "then" making your mark and drilling the hole for the second anchor to avoid the mounting hole being off mark... Once, installed the bar was very secure and sturdy. Excellent buy!!!!

Mobility is difficult for them, Dad weighs almost 400 lbs and it supports his weight with no problem. Mom is shorter and has movement issues and now feels more confident getting in and out of the shower. Style blends in well with shower tub surround and looks like it actually belongs there, not an eye sore at all!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Own2sheds from Great for arthritis suffers I had to measure carefully with a stud finder to locate the center of each stud and make 2 holes that grabbed the studs. I set the angle to about 30 degrees on the wall next to the toilet. I used an under sized bit to drill the holes and applied a thread wax to each screw to ease setting the screws. I used my cordless to secure the screw, backing them in and out until they were snug. Snap the covers on and your stability and peace of mind are secure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BobMc from Grab Bars Needed an ADA rated bar for a move in to an apartment. Found the Moen Bar, ADA rated, with Stainless Steel Screws Included in the package. Mounted the bar at the ANSI required height into walls with blocking. Snapped on the cover over the screws and flanges and looks perfect.. Great selection for when the suppliers are out of stock or not available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jimani45 from Perfect help to get into or out of the tub [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We found we needed to replace our tub and shower surround after the fixtures pulled loose due to improper installation of all of the plumbing except the drain. A General Contractor came in and demoed the old unit and completely replaced the tub with a metal tub and tiled the shower surround including raising the shower head and installing the grab bar at the head end of the tub. The tub is 17 inches deep and the grab bar gives stability for anyone getting into or out of the tub, avoiding the risk of injury to themselves. The product is stainless steel, very sturdy and securely anchored, all of which were required attributes prior to purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Enjay from Moen 24" grab bar works great [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I installed this grab bar in a shower which has glazed tiles. The tile went all the way to the ceiling so there was no way to definitely tell where the studs were. Drilling trial holes was not an option for finding studs. I decided to mount with Toggler Snaptoggle heavy duty 1/4" toggle bolts. They hold up to 265# in 1/2" drywall per the package. Moen makes a grab bar mounting anchor but it requires a 1 1/4" hole. I located the grab bar at an angle exactly where I wanted it and marked 2 bolt locations at each end. (There are 3 bolt holes at each end and Moen supplied 6 screws.) I first drilled a 1/8" pilot hole using a Kobalt glass and tile bit. I then inserted a metal coat hanger wire and felt around as much as possible to ensure that I had drilled all the way through and that I was not over a plumbing line. I then used a Kobalt 1/2" glass and tile bit to drill the final mounting hole. Those bits drilled through the tile without a problem. I then mounted two 1/4" toggle bolts at each end. Note that this is not an ordinary toggle bolt. It is a "Heavy Duty" toggle bolt. The number on the package is 50400 and there are 2/package. The bar is solid and I am pleased with the installation. If any of my 4 holes had gone into a stud, I would have used screws, but they did not hit anything.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nancy from One of the best inventions Man ever came up with Didn't realize just how much I'd use and appreciate the grab bar. Now don't know what I'd do without it. Feel so much more at ease taking a shower ... without trying to maintain my balance at the same time that I'm getting clean. Highly recommend it to all .... regardless of age!!!!
