It is designed so that the user uses the hammer by gripping lower part of the hammer which allows the hammer itself to drive the nail into the work or other item you are working with. The claw is well integrated and is well built to pull a stubborn nail or separate wood as required. The hammer is slightly heavier than the usual hammer you may use, but since it is a continuous piece of steel, you have no worries that this hammer will break or not be up to the task on hand. This is a great product

Long handle gives extra power for framing use, wide smooth face will work for drywall or finish use. Has a nail guide. The claw is shaped for good leverage. The only down side is the extra stiff handle will transmit all the shock of the hammer blows to your hand and arm, unlike a wooden handle. The steel handle will also transmit all the force to the nail, but I think this hammer might be tiring for long use every day. This is a high-quality professional tool made for years of hard use.

Well, this single piece tool is a solid addition to my toolbox and will take over as the "go-to" hammer in my house. The rubber handle sleeve gives a nice comfortable feel while the one piece feels like it will last forever. The magnetic nail holder on the head makes starting a nail easier, but maybe not a natural motion since we've never learned to do start one that way before. I'll have fun trying I guess. Highly recommend (I know, it's just a hammer).

Rated 5 out of 5 by threerace from Demolition Hammer [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I know most of us will never need a framing hammer but think of it as a great demolition tool good weight, great leverage, and solid hits. Most hammers are too light for demolition but a good framing hammer does a great job at demolition. Every time I have torn out a room for remodeling there has always been several studs that need some repair. This hammer is great for small jobs that arise from remodeling most hammers are too light for demolition and repairs. I am not a large man so a heavier framing hammer did not work for me but this 20 oz hammer works great. The extra little bit of weight makes a major difference driving a nail or demolition. I would recommend going to the store and try the framing hammers of different weights to find your hammer, mine is this 20oz hammer.
