Nest Protect looks for fast-burning fires, smoldering fires, and carbon monoxide. It tells you where the danger is and alerts your phone in case you/re not home. Comment on fait pour que les Nest ne se parlent pas entre eux. Je suis une résidence de personnes agé autonome. Je ne veux pas que s'il y a une fumée dans un appartement que l'autre appartement voisin entende que le Nest avertisse qu'il ya de la fumée

Very easy to install and it has a hard wiring kit avalible in the package. It is definitly louder than your typical alarm .

So Far, So Good!
So yeah, set up and installation was easy. It hasn't actually been alerting us of an actual fire (thank goodness), but the testing worked well. The "light' they say illuminates the room when you walk in is underwhelming (as in not really), but yeah, you won't be tripping over anything in the room, because you can at least see what is around (kinda).

Missing Google home integration
If you are purchasing these because you are looking to have them integrated with your smart home, don't bother as the don't. The units work well as smoke/CO2 detectors, they link together via their own WiFi network, perform a monthly sound check on their own, and provide remote notifications via the nest app. What's missing is integration with the rest of the Google ecosystem in the Google home app. I purchased the units that I have 2+ years ago, just after Google killed the works with nest program, expecting that I could at the very least setup my hue lights to turn on with an alarm but the do not connect to anything except the Nest app.
