only 5 minutes hot water , then cold , does have more than one thermostat to check

Bad idea to have cold water coming from the side
Bad idea to have cold water coming from the side bottom ! You can easily break the pipe ! The pipe can go inside the tank then could be guided via isolation to the bottom.

Longevity.
So my last electric Cascade 40 lasted at least 35 years. I have owned the house for 25 years and it looked a bit aged on the copper fittings when I bought the house. A lot of write ups on the Internet talk about a hot water tank lasting 8 to 12 years. Are you kidding me. I was a little kid and remember Cascade 40 out West that my Grandfather had for what seemed like forever as I grew up. I think it is a no brainer, I mean they deserve my purchase of another one. See the photo of the one I took out. Maybe someone smart can tell me how old it really is. Started to leak somewhere. Still was working but started leaking, none, no, zero maintenance . 35 years at least. I have very hard water in Caledon Ontario on a well. Bought new Cascade 40 Model 152B 3F7M. They are made in the great province of Quebec. My Cascade original was so old it said made in Ontario.
