can this be used for transferring potable water or maple sap from tote to barrel
We do not recommend using this for either potable water or maple sap, as it's not approved by the relevant authorities for food or water, and the pump could contain impurities that will be transferred to the water or sap.

The product is a work horse.
The water pump is a work horse for me. My property gets
a lot of water from the rains and neighbor's that direct run off
water from their property into mine. The pump primes easily
and usually starts after 4-5 pulls.
I have had the water pump a little over 1 year now and the
only suggestions I have is to design the lift handle better. My
lift handle corroded and customer service is sending me a
replacement one. The other problem I have is with the gas
tank cap, it is not easy to put on and sometimes it becomes
loose when the pump is running.

Carburetor malfunctioned on the the first use
I bought this as a backup system to pump water out of my basement if heavy rains came. My area has water issues when we get more than 2" of rain + in a few hours.
The rain came, as anticipated, and I set-up the water pump according to the instruction manual.
Shortly after putting gas in the tank I started to smell gas fumes. They were quite strong. Very unusual.
Upon investigation, I saw fuel dripping from the carburetor bowl and air filter. When I felt around the lower part of the carburetor to see what the issue may be the entire bowl fell off in my hand spilling fuel everywhere.
By chance, there were no ignition sources nearby or the situation would have escalated in to a full blown emergency causing burns to myself and everything around.

This pump looks good but...
This pump looks good and has good features and its a fair price but...after a year or two of use, things go bad. The recoil locks up - you simply can't pull the cord to start it. I also had to replace the string as well because it started to fray and eventually broke. They burn a lot of oil - you have to constantly check the oil - every time you run it. On the pump part (not the engine), seals leaked right out of the box. And eventually after two summers of use, it just can't be started. So my final conclusion is, at the beginning, this pump looks great, has great features, starts easy, fair price, etc. But after you get 100 hrs on it, you no longer have a pump that works properly and you probably won't be able to get it started. In the end, this pump is not built to last.

pumps well not durable
i have had this pump for a year. Always serviced drained and stored at EOY. This year pumps fine but then the pull rope broke taking with it the recoil spring. It's not an easy part to get. This pump would be better if it had just an ol fashioned wrap and pull starter as this seems to be a failure commented on by others. Pump and motor are fine but without starter rope it useful as chicken lips.

Powerful little pump
Starts really easily. Have garden hoses attached and can pump over 250’. At less distances pressure is great - we had three oscillator sprinklers on it at once

Great pump for the price, handles spring flooding issues
Pump was easy to set up, easy to start.
Handles water quickly.
Only wish there were a throttle control for high and low speed idling.
