Description
Make laundry day quicker and easier with the high-efficiency design of this GE 4.9 ft³ top load washer. Accommodating family-sized loads, this washer features 14 wash cycles to tackle various fabrics and soil levels. Deep Fill feature meets the needs of cleaning the most heavily soiled clothes, or loads that benefit from a deeper soak. The water levels and Precise Fill feature automatically measures load size, adding just the right amount of water and the stainless steel basket resists rust and won't chip, peel or snag clothes.

Whimsical and hard to decipher
I bought this article last week (April 23) and I was able to wash 2 loads so far. I still have a lot of reading and re-reading to do to get an idea about how to make this work. Today, after a lot of trials (and errors) I made it work...it took me 1hour 45 minutes to do so...I feel like tens of years with a washing machine that worked just fine for 33 years, means nothing with this new one that sits there until it decides to do what it is meant to do.

It Works
Bought about a month ago..a little louder than I would have liked, but washes the clothes in a lot less time than the last machine...have not used the sensing cycle as the last sensing machine was terrible....like that you can use it without the sensing mode.

DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK!
If I could rate zero stars I would. Horrible machine with so many issues. GE needs to stop selling this machine. I can't believe it even made it to stores.
1. Doesn't agitate enough to actually clean clothes. I'm talking the agitator barely moves for just a few seconds so dirt is not knocked out of the fabric.
2. Doesn't fill enough water to cover your clothes no matter what setting. So when load is done you actually see some parts of clothes that are still dry! I don't care if it is claimed this machine is water efficient. If clothes are still dry and caked on dirt (that would easily dissolve in water) remains when you are doing a wash, there is a problem.
3. There is no “real” rinse cycle. The rinse cycle consists of water splashing down on the clothes as they spin from the wash! The drum DOES NOT fill up with nice clean water like normal machines to do the rinse. You can hear the few spurts of water and that is supposed to make you feel like your clothes are properly rinsed. And, while clothes spin, and water spurts on them, the fabric softener dispenses! So fabric softener can never dilute properly in water. Therefore, you end up with fabric softener stains on your clothes.
4. So you end up having to do another wash so you can this time, rinse your clothes properly. For a machine to claim to be high energy saving this is a ridiculous work around since I wasted more energy and water to fix the issue.
5. Clothes don't smell fresh. Of course they don't, there isn't enough agitation to knock the dirt out and then doesn't have a proper rinse cycle. Buying this substandard machine is a trap. If you want to return you need to rent a truck and get it back to where you bought it. Well then I would be losing even more money. So I'm stuck with this piece of junk.
I really hope GE contacts me about this.
