Best sponges. Please keep ordering these in.
These are the best sanding sponges you can get. I carve wooden spoons and sand by hand so I use these sponges a lot (400 and 220 grit). I have used well over a hundred of them for spoon sanding. They outperform every other sanding sponge available. Here:s why: First, the sandpaper covers only the front and back faces of the sponge, and the sides are just foam (which is what. you want). Most other sponges have sandpaper wrap around the sponge on all sides so you have more sanding surface. This seems like a good idea at first, but it actually isn't. It makes the sponge rigid so it won't contour properly when you are sanding curved surfaces, and the paper breaks away fast on all the edges, leaving the sponge useless very quickly, unless you are sanding only flat surfaces.
Secondly, the paper on these sponges is actually paper, and it is thick enough that it stays rigid when you are sanding over imperfections. Other sponges that use synthetic material may claim to last longer, but that's because rather than sanding out small imperfections in the wood, they actually just contour around imperfections because they are too spongy. So they last longer but you need to sand 3 or 4 times as long to get the same effect as one of these.
I'm writing this review because lately I have stopped seeing these sponges in stores, and they are being replaced by the useless sponges instead. If you want a good sponge for uneven surfaces, this is the type to buy.
