So I was not going to purchase My last Frigidaire Microwave was 15 years old. I was not going to buy anything different. However, after much research, I selected the new Frigidaire 1.5cu ft over-the-range microwave with a convection oven mode. It is 1450 watts which exceed my expectations, cooks evenly, and uses metal pans when in the convection process. Just love it. I am still learning about convection but have used it to make meatloaf, cakes, brownies, and casseroles. I am geeked over this new microwave. It is beautiful...

We had a perfectly good microwave already. The convection feature is not good. We put the rack in with a fairly accurate glass oven thermometer. Set the temperature to 425 degrees. Preheat end notified us at about 200 degrees. Put in 10 chicken wings on a small baking sheet. Took 30 minutes to get to 300 degrees. At 45 minutes it was slightly higher, 310 degrees, and we gave up. It did heat the wings OK at that point. But they were pre-cooked. Not sure I would trust it with anything raw. The visual design and quality are fine, but they really dropped the ball on the convection feature. I do not recommend purchase.

I feel like the Whirlpool we previously owned was very outdated even though it was only a few years old. I am very impressed with how quiet the unit it. Literally half the noise of our old unit without sacrificing heating time. Not only does the new sleek design look great but they even included not one but two under wave LED lights. Can't tell how much of a pain it to find and install the old incandescent bulbs. So far we are very happy with the unit!

For just a bit more money we liked the fact this gave us an additional convection oven as well as a great microwave. One smart design feature is there is a handhold for opening below on the right side as well as the entire right vertical side. Using the bottom gap to open (behind the brushed aluminum trim piece) prevents the inevitable fingerprints if using along the side where there is only the blacked out glass.

Did not realize the microwave part was only 900 watt (our fault for not checking) so when using the microwave only it definitely is a little slow. R tried using the convection cooking to bake some cookies but it didn't really work. They cooked unevenly and were fully browned on top but still raw on the bottom. I am still going to try something like rolls, hopefully that works as making rolls while cooking in the oven was a big selling point.
