Rated 4 out of 5 by Upir from Lacquer for a high chair My first attempt at refinishing, gave it a nice dark stain and was looking for a good finish. Was leaning towards shellac but ended up with this because of cost and... well... that was about it. I guess I was also looking for something food safeish... So I picked this up and was a bit concerned about the apply/sand/apply/sand instructions, but it also said if reapplied after 2 hours but before 6 you could skip the sanding part. I ended up putting one coat on though. The one coat gave it a good covering and was sufficient for what I was looking for. I don't think more coats would have necessarily have been better for this application, a high chair for my Grandson. Now if I was intending this for a table top or something more high traffic, then more coats may have been called for. But this product covered beautifully and dried without any hazing or discoloration. I think it may have picked up some of the stain off the wood, but no discoloration was found. I will more than likely be picking up the semi-gloss for other applications as I think the gloss was a bit too glossy for my tastes, though the finish definitely reminds me of some furniture my Grandparents had and with the style of high chair, it fits. My one draw back for it was the requirement for a specific lacquer thinner for clean up.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Tim-B from Gave it a shot I bought 2 quarts. It was the 1st time I had used a brush on lacquer. I was very disappointed, it was too thick and very hard to work with. If you need to use this product get the lacquer thinner and see what you can do.
