The item is especially made for outdoor since it is certified waterproof and weatherproof. But it can also be used indoor.

I have a cloth topped gazebo. Can this item be hung in there and if so how far from the top
I have mine suspended from the centre of an outdoor offset umbrella with no problems. The heat is deflected downward. Like any other heater they should not be left unattended. You will want it suspended as low as possible to get the full effect of the heat. I have another heater in a wooden gazebo.

What does the instruction manual say about the minimum distance from combustible materials? I want to use it indoors but am concerned if I will have enough space without creating a fire hazard with it over heating items such as papers, Kleenex etc.
It is safe for indoor use but it is not the ideal system if this is your primary heating source.
Infrared will provide heat with a range of about 6 to 10 feet but it will not heat a room. Like any heating source you need to make sure object will not touch the element to avoid any fire hazard.

The heat will spread and lose efficiency the further you get away from the unit. Depnding on the model, and the reflector used behind it, it will spread at different andgles and be effective at different distances. Generally speaking, our wall mounted and standing models will hav ereflectors that spread the heat on less of a wide angle, therfore being efficient for about 10-12 feet. Our hanging models will spread the heat more, therefore covering a table setting more easily even though it may only hang 3-4 feet above the table.

Perfect for me deck
I bought this heater at the end of July. It works so well and looks so good that I bought a second one. Three heat settings controlled with a remote is perfect for those chilly mornings or evenings. For those times when you want a bit of light without the heat, the LED light is perfect. The remote for the second unit didn't work, but 1 phone call to the manufacturer got me a replacement remote with no problems at all. Love this heater!

Wonderfully warm
I bought this unit for my father, he is retired and loves to sit outside in his covered gazebo all winter long. The moment he plugged it in I knew we had a winner. This small unit warms a 10 x 8 space comfortably and turned an outdoorssummer space into an all year oasis. Dad is happy too!!

great heat
I bought this for my balcony in my condo this heater gives off lots of heat and I love the remote control so you can warm it up before you go outside! It was a little expensive but it has been worth the money so far.

Nice heat and ambient light!
I bought this heater a month ago and it is great. Sure beats the propane versions that I've seen...no need to look around the clumpy base sitting on the table since this one hangs from the ceiling... nice
Only one word for the manufacturer...why would you cheap out and use an eight foot cord when you know this unit hangs from a ceiling...? I needed to go out and buy another extension cord that matched the specs. so I could plug it into the wall... Duh!

Not warm enough
Very disappointed with the amount of heat generated by this heater. It doesn't give off enough heat to warm my 10 x10 gazebo. I can't barely feel that it is on at all. If there is the slightest breeze, forget it.

Really great heater even in CANADA !!!
I use it indoors for a large room in a countryside house in Canada. The remote scrolls through 3 settings from ambient warm to solid warmth to really intense unless 6 feet away. This thing warms objects but not the air. So it is like a fireplace or campfire but without the smoke. It radiates infrared heat at very efficient kilowatts for comfort. I’m planning to buy a couple more for myself and some for Christmas gifts. I’m that happy with it. I hope it doesn’t buzz out and break, but the overall stainless steel and solid plastic construction makes me think the heater is very well constructed. It is a heavy chunk of metal and glass and high quality plastic. The remote is light but who cares? The coiled infrared filament runs vertically inside a glass tube. All aspects of the design looks pretty well sorted out, if you know what I mean? It is really decent goods here. I recommend fully.

Dont buy it!
I bought the heater 3 weeks ago and i am really dissapointed with it... It barely heats the area and it is too expensive for what you get! It was my first time buying something from lowes canada and the last!
