I would like to purchase the cordless grass trimmer. I already have the ego lawn mower. I have a 56V battery. Will I need to purchase another battery or will the one I already have work with the grass trimmer?
Hello,
The EGO 56V batteries are compatible with the other EGO 56V products and will operate all of the tools. The difference between the batteries are the capacity or run time. Thank you for your inquiry!

String Constantly Tangles, Ego Knows of Issue
Despite Ego knowing of how awful the head on this string trimmer is, it isn't something covered under warranty. In fact, Ego covers essentially nothing under the warranty (they say they cover the motor, but electric motors just don't break).
I went through 4 different ego string trimmers last year and all four were horrible at loading string, getting string to dispense during use, and the string constantly tangles forcing you to stop, disassemble the head, unwind the string, rewind the string, then get back to work for approximately 3 seconds until the string tangles again.
Switching back to Ryobi for string trimmers.

Better than more expensive CF/Powerload model
I choose this model after having problems with the carbon fiber shaft/power load model. This trimmer offers all the same power and weight benefits with a more reliable bump head. The powerload model would jam up on me when I’d try to restring it. This model you just insert the string through one side and pull it out the other side with both strands even then twist the dial on the head until string is pulled in to proper length. It’s not as heavy as I expected, cant even tell a difference from the carbon fiber shaft honestly. The power is excellent and run time is great too. I’ve put it through it’s paces and would highly recommend it.

Better than gas powered!
I've only had the chance to use mine twice since purchasing it and I'm very pleased with it compared to my old gas trimmer. It's lighter, has better balance (doesn't kill my back carrying it around the yard), powerful and quiet. I love the variable speed - makes it easy to trim around the delicate flower beds. Give it a quarter turn in your hands and it makes a reasonably good edger, too. I've trimmed my yard twice, front & back (average size yard) on the initial charge and the battery is telling me it's still good to go. Now I want to get one of the blowers and I'll definitely consider one of the mowers when the Craftsman craps out on me.

The Breeze
I bought this product to make things eazy for my wife to use because I have recently become disabled. I must say I'm very surprised by how eazy it was to set up even with my disability and it seems to have all the power needed for a typical residental yard. The only con would be the weight of it other then that its a great machine. I saw people complaining about the line feeding system and taking the line cover off. I found no issue at all even with the limited amout of strenght I have in my hands. It's not any harder then any Stihl weed eater that I have used in the past. Lastly all the parts seem pretty sturdy. Will see how it holds up with time.

Very Good for light yard duty (45-60 minutes)
Have had it a couple weeks. Definitely good for light yard work. Used it for 3 charges. Each time got 45-60 minutes of near constant use on grass and tall weeds. Didn't try on small treelings - don't think it would do super heavy stuff. Line feeder hasn't clogged yet (whew!) but I haven't gotten to try adding line to the spool yet. Sometimes the line feeder didn't advance line with the prescribed tap on the ground, at least not until I dropped my left hand from the handle down to the bottom half of the shaft. Tapping from there always advanced the line. This is my first EGO product. Seriously thinking about the blower and edger now that I know the trimmer was pretty well powered.

Not off to a good start
Only used it once so far. Considering how much MORE it cost compared to my 4 year old electric craftsman I am not impressed with the power. Right out of the box, after a few bumps the line no longer advanced, the string was tangled in the spool. I had to remove the lower cover assembly (the tabs were difficult to press down to release the assembly... had to use screwdriver), then forcefully pull the string out from the spool and reload. If this is any indication of the quality and attention to detail during assembly, I'm glad it has a 5 year warranty. As of now, I feel I paid WAY too much for this EGO trimmer. Hopefully my opinion will improve with each use.

Weedtastic!!
I bought this bad boy over memorial weekend, and put it to work ASAP. My back yard was looking like Vietnam, and within a few hours of work I got the beast under control. My son even finds this product easy to use! True story, while on a business trip, he text me to say the trimmer was out of line. I said it was unlike and Instructed him over the phone on how to get line to come out. He couldn’t figure it out.
I then sent him a link on you tube to Ego trimmer line replacement, a “how to” video, and he text me an hour later to say he got it done with the video support! So far so great. Only thing I would like is a bigger battery capacity.

when charging, it strongly smells poisonous
On the upside, it is very powerful. It is the most powerful weed wacker that I have used. However, it does not cut thru all 1/4 plants, as I had hoped. On the downside, DO I HAVE A DEFECTIVE BATTERY OR CHARGER?!!! Every time I tried to charge the battery, 3 times so far, there is an ugly, strong, toxic, sickening, semi-sulfurous, poisonous type of smell emitted. I think this is the battery, but it might be the charger......................... IS THIS NORMAL, OR DO I NEED TO BRING IT BACK FOR A DIFFERENT BATTERY AND/OR CHARGER? I had to open all the doors and windows for over 3 hours, and still did not get rid of the smell for a couple of days.
