Which batteries do you recommend for the EGO 2 Stage snowblower to clear a two car laneway that is about 400 sq feet? Would 56V 5AH be enough or more AH?
Hello,
The snow blower run time will drastically vary pending the type of snow on the laneway as well as the volume of the snow. We would recommend for optimal run time using two 7.5Ah batteries, however the time can be increased with larger batteries as well. Thank you for your inquiry!

Great when it works. Which is rare. Back to gas.
I love when my ego battery and products are working. They are extremely powerful and long lasting.
Unfortunately, the batteries seem to have a very limited lifespan. I remember telling my friends that lithium ion is the future, and to get rid of their gas tools. 3 batteries later, my old stihl chainsaw still fires up every time. Yes, it’s noisy and requires maintenance, but I also don’t have a several week downtime while waiting for replacement batteries. I just don’t believe the technology is there yet. For those reading this review: please realize that I am a Tesla owner and 100% on board with electric power. Ego is not tesla. Too many problems, going back to gas.

Poor battery
I purchased two EGO products a lawn mower and a blower. I loved it until the battery gave up on both products. These batteries are expensive to replace on top of the fact of high cost of original purchase. Contacted customer service and was informed the larger 56v 5.0 was over 3 years there is no warranty. Trust me I take good care of my product and would had limited use, so I’m really disappointed that the battery would give out not long after the three warranty. Hard to accept having to pay $400 for a new battery. The lady at customer service was pleasant and kind, but could do nothing for me .
I’m disappointed and may go back to gas as it may be less costly.

If you need an extra EGO battery, try this one
I looked around at competing brands before I bought into the EGO tool chain. After looking at reviews I decided to select this brand. I haven't regretted my decision yet. This EGO battery offers a run time in my blower of between 30 and 45 minutes. This isn't quite long enough to clear my yard and hence why I purchased the extra battery. While these are heavy duty and provide reasonable service, my main concern with these or any battery of this type is the cost. These are not cheap. So far, I'm in my 2nd year with these batteries and they still seem to charge well and haven't lost noticeable run time as is typical of rechargeable batteries.

Slow warranty replacement process.
initially the battery worked well with Ego chainsaw, Trimmer, and mower. Started having issues back in May 2022 with battery just stopping 5 minutes into the tasks. I would eject the battery and then plug it in again and off I went on the task. But stoppages started occuring more frequently, making the battery basically useless to complete a task. Started warranty replacement process back in June and finally..........received a warranty replacement in October. Once the warranty replacement was approved, the battery was shipped out quickly to the dealer. New battery works like a charm and I am back to trimming, mowing, cutting wood.

This battery should last over 8 years - just read!
Apparently the 5 Ah battery pack substitutes for the 4 Ah battery pack that came with my rather dated lawn mower. The 4 Ah battery lasted about 4 years - but went through 2 rather cold winters in the garage which is not heated. That, I learned cut the chargeability in half. Bummer to learn this, but I do recommend anyone buying this new battery, read the small print - it teaches you the best way to treat the battery, how to charge it, when not to charge it, and so forth.

Battery lifespan is 4-5 years
I've invested in many Ego tools over the years and they work great. However, the warranty on the batteries is 3 years. Save your money and be prepared to replace any batteries you own at the 4-5 year mark. Every battery I own has gone 'defective' in the last year. Ego will not help you with this in any way. I had Ego customer service tell me that the batteries are only supposed to last 4-5 years based on usage, which is why they warranty them for 3 years.

Battery needs help
Love the mower and the convenience over my prior Honda gas. This past summer was my third with the mower but by late summer I could not get my entire lawn done on one charge. Now the battery is all but useless as it takes several, more than three separate charges to complete my lawn. I now regret the purchase of this machine as the replacement cost of the battery is over have the price of the entire mower three years back . Where's my Honda.

Batteries generally OK
The batteries charge pretty quick, and they last long enough to finish removing snow from my property in most cases, but the power drops precipitously in very cold weather. I guess that is to be expected. I did have to stop once because the power dropped low. It appears I have to charge before every use. In general I am satisfied, but not blown away by the batteries. I did not face the nuisance of frequent refueling with my gas powered snowblower which I gave to my daughter.
