Can this spike be used with an 8' post?
The spikes are only to be utilized for fences of up to 6 feet, it is not designed for a fence that is 6 feet or taller.
The 8 foot post would fit in the spike but you could not build a fence 6 feet or higher and have it safely supported.
There is a HEAVY DUTY version of this product that would be better suited to an 8 foot post.

Do these spikes stay in the ground through the winter? the frost line is deeper than 3 feet.
Hello Sir,
These will be affected by the frost during winter time as they are not below frost line.
If you want an product that doesn't get affected by the frost, you will need to buy the Pylex-L.
https://pylex.com/en/products/10725-pylex-l-black
The lifespan will vary between 20 to 30 years depending of your soil acidity and type (Clay, Sand, Earth ... )
Anything else, please let us know.
THanks

Straight fence in row of trees
Held off building a fence for years due to fear of tree root issues and lack of access for a post hole digging. . Finally used these fence spikes, but the adjustable ones. Found that soaking the ground first to make them much easier to drive in with a block of 4 x 4 and sledge hammer. Some did not go in straight - no problem with the adjustment. Posts are straight. 70 th span of fence. Still straight after 4 years of freeze, thaw and strong winds.

Pretty good
Very easy to install. All you need is a small piece of 4 x 4 and, with a sledge hammer, use this to pound the spike into the ground. Then take out the small piece and insert the new post. The only difficulty with ground spikes is keeping them dead straight while they are being pounded in. Also, they can twist if you aren't careful. A second pair of hands is needed to keep it straight.

Very sturdy product
I have previously purchased these spikes from Rona and find them to be better than the competitor's product.
