Description
Designed to sit on top of a freestanding wood, pellet or gas stove. It generates it's own electricity without cords or batteries. The ecofan start automatically when placed on top of a stove and adjust their speed with the stove temperature. As the stove heats up, the ecofan runs faster. As the fire burns down and the stove cools, the ecofan automatically turns off. Gold finish. 2-year warranty.

does this fan work on a natural gas fireplace
Hi Edward. Thank you for your question. Our Ecofans are designed for use on freestanding stoves. If you have a freestanding gas stove, we would suggest our 806 BelAir model that is designed for gas/pellet stoves. If you do not have a free standing stove to set the Ecofan on the top of, then the Ecofan is not designed for this use. Hello, I need the 8" H fan for our wood stove. Our Vermont Castings wood stove, the Intrepid model, sits inside a brick fireplace alcove that surrounds the wood stove on the top and 2 sides. Catherine

My echo fan quit working. The blade of the fan moves freely, but when it sits on the top of the hot wood stove it doesn’t work. Any ideas of what the problem is? I’ve been using it for a few years.

Notice at lee valley they have two sizes. 8" and 10" You don't state what size this one is.

Nice little fan!
I have had this fan for about seven years. I've been very happy owning it. I did have to replace a failed motor after about the second or third year, but the company sent me a new one for virtually nothing, and I believe they even threw an extra one in for good measure! I had to re-solder connections and take it apart to get it in, but if you are even moderately handy, it shouldn't be a big problem.
Mind you, it's hard to say how much actual air this thing moves around, because I have had nothing with which to compare, but one way or another, it is a neat little fan, and it is very fun to watch the thing start spinning by itself when my stove heats up!

Good fan
I like the fan and it works as suspected. It helps to heat a medium to large room.
Pros: It uses heat to run the fan.
When the buck stove cools down the fan will shut off so not to blow cold air.
Ready to use when you pull it out of the box.
Completely quite when running.
Cons: Wish the motor on the fan was a little stronger.
