Do you have to buy room sensors?

There was one Ecobee that came with one, but yes, they are extra. They are not necessary for the thermostat to work, it is just if you want a warmer room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TGraham from Great product even better customer service After noticing I didn't have the infamous "c" wire connected to my old thermostat. I called for help and spent over an hour on the phone tracing my old wires back and locating what would be the "c" wire. I tried to give up and just get an electrician but Katrina helped me work through it. Pulled the panel off the unit, traced each wire and took pics, located what we needed, pulled the spare (which existed just was not used), and got it working. Once it powered up we tested it and set it up with her help. I can't say enough about the customer service. Thanks for spending over an hour on new years Eve helping us out. I'm also able to use it via Smartthings on my mobile or change settings with the ecobee app from the distance as well. The awesome customer support I got from ecobee over the phone for me is the reason why I wouldn't even try a different brand in the future (provided the thermostat is working properly). The customer support was patient and the knowledge and assistance over the phone was really impressive! It was my first time replacing a thermostat and I had to change the wiring a bit but with the help of the support team it worked in the end without any issues. Great support, thanks again!

Rated 1 out of 5 by DAG1 from Looks good but doesn't work Setup was easy and I was initially encouraged. From the start, though, it couldn't read a constant temperature. As compared to my reference thermometer, the ecobee temperature reading was erratic and so temperature control was terrible. I'd go upstairs one day and the temp was 73 F, when the ecobee thought it was controlling at 77. Two hours later with the same set point temp was 81F. Tech support only offered to sent a remote temperature sensor, not to fix or replace the device. I've gone back to the dumb thermostat that can measure a consistent temp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Smedley from I Like It Pros: Great support. Excellent app. Cannot only choose between auto or run for the fan, but also choose the mininimum min/hr the fan runs on auto. Can choose to have the heat turned back at night and restored to a certain temp by a certain time in the morning. The tstat does the rest. The tstat allows the temp to vary by 0.5 deg C and cycles the heat as required. Can install the app on multiple devices, such as android phone, pc, and Apple ipad, and monitor and/or control the system remotely from either device. Cons: Needs C wire. I had to run a new cable. The tstat run stats are at least an hour old when the app accesses them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jtram from Great Addition! I’ve had the lite set up for 1 year in my two bedroom apartment. The thermostat is in a hallway with no vents- I use three sensors (living, master, office) and they really do work well- they track occupancy and I love that at night I can set it to on read in the bedroom. Highly recommend! The application is a little hard to navigate at first as lots of clicking through versus all on one screen- but after a few weeks you get very used to it. Installed it myself in a matter of 5 minutes!

Rated 1 out of 5 by ms_shane from Temperature reading fluctuates 5 degrees I've had this installed 2 days. The temperature reading is fluctuating by 5 degrees. Two days of 3 tech support sessions have concluded this is because a ceiling fan *in the next room* is causing a slight breeze across the front of the thermostat that is affecting its accuracy. I am able to duplicate this at will by turning the ceiling fan in the next room on/off. My 2nd gen ecobee in a didn't have this problem in an identical setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SharonS from Excellent features I’ve had this for 2 days. I originally purchased a Honeywell T9 which I had for 4 days. I returned the T9 because it was short cycling my AC. After researching, I realized that the differential on the T9 was too small and could not be changed. To complicate matters, the room temperature on the T9 would round to the set temperature when it was within 1.5 degrees. Enter the ecobee. The display temperature is accurate. I can see what the temp is when the cycle starts and stops. I was capable of setting both a heat and cool differential. I also can set a time to run the fan after the cycle to dissipate the air in my ducts. Lastly, you can monitor the system run times. The HomeIQ portal provides all the data you need. Needless to say, ecobee is the one to beat. I recommend this highly. It was a breeze to install. It even includes a wall plate to cover any existing holes. This is a 5 star piece of equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by joca from Much better than Nest A friend of mine was looking for a "smart-thermostat" and after hearing of the hassles I've had with my Nest and Google customer support, and my insistence to avoid one of those, bought an Ecobee, which i helped install.. though I'm certain they could have done it without me. What a difference. It was up and running in no time. No phone calls to support, and to be honest, I'm a little envious of the way it looks on the wall. It'll be my next thermostat.
