Easy Heat Automatic Control - 1200 w - White is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Savings Overall The automatic roof heat cable control's main benefit is it greatly reduces power usage, and with the larger heat tapes that can be major savings. You do need to get the sensors located correctly to function, and if the roof has no gutter the run off from heat tape can form ice on the sensor lines if not located above this.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Needs Better Design I have had cables on my roof for several years and they always worked well. I added this controller for this season so that I could automate the system and be able to go away and not worry about it. I installed the controller in the fall and followed all the instructions. The moisture sensor cable is at one end of the roof where the controller is mounted close to the power receptacle and at the beginning end of the heat cable. I now have about 18" of snow on the roof and it is melting and forming icicles along the roof edge and the system just won't turn on. I think the end corner of the roof where the sensor is installed is not melting enough but everywhere along the center it is a bit warmer from the attic so the sensor does not see enough moisture. Water is showing on the siding, a sure sign that it's beginning to back up. I have bypassed the controller to get the system working. The design flaw is that it is difficult to place the moisture sensor in the best location for detecting moisture. I called Easy-Heat and they agree that this is not an unusual problem. So be very careful where you place the moisture sensor and make sure it is in a location where it will see moisture along at least a 10" length. I think if they put a longer lead on the moisture sensor and highlighted this potential issue in the instructions it might be a significant improvement.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a simple device to install This device is overly complex to install. Really only need a thermostatically controlled unit not moisture sensor. Directions not great. After installation Not working. Cannot test prior to installation either. Better off with temperature controller but none approved for outdoor moist conditions if you read carefully. I hate this unit

Rated 1 out of 5 by from EasyHeat ADKS Roof Heat Cable Controller [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This item did not work even when sensor encased in ice! Very disappointing. Should have heeded prior reviews.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lessons learned and there are many 1st things first - the controllers do not activate until BOTH the sensor wire detects moisture and the temperature drops below 40 degrees. They do not turn on simply because there is snow on the roof! Because of the above, you need to think long and hard about sensor wire placement before you begin to install the actual heat wires. My front roof gets equal exposure to the sun, and therefore when one part of the snow on the roof is melting (near the sensor wire), the other part is melting also. The senor is good for this situation and works as it should. However, my rear roof has a valley that gets little sun, and this is where the ice dams tend to form. Unfortunately, my sensor wire area of the roof melts first and turns the sensor off as soon as that area is dry (remember you need both moisture and temperature to activate) leaving water in the valley to freeze up into dams. Bottom line - the sensor is an acceptable product for roofs with even sun exposure . If you have a roof with uneven exposure, sensor wire placement is critical and even with that, there will be issues with either the sensor turning off when other areas still need it to be on, or it will be on when not needed in most areas. As my installation is on a vacation home, I plan on switching to Bluetooth plugs and turning the wires on and off remotely when the temperatures indicate they are needed. A little more work, but a lot less headache.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works great if it works. I bought one 10 years ago. Worked great! Understandably it needed to be replaced. The new one doesnt work says its on but no power to the heater wires. 6 inches of ice dams I have to replace it in spring. Cant do it in winter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is a must have product for the roof & de-icin I just finished the installation, yesterday. The Chinese to english instructions need to be in a larger print. The instructions need to be better refined. I have to used this product, as it has been too warm.
