I got really into engraving around Christmas time last year. i started with a battery operated As Seen On TV engraver, graduated to this, then to an actual Dremel with the detail/pen attachment. There aren't very many options as far as attachments go, and its loud and sounds like a tattoo gun. Those are my only 2 complaints, but its overall a pretty solid tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ldytrckr from Just what was needed I was in a pinch when I was handed a bunch of keys for the trucks I oversee and saw they were not marked with which unit they belonged to so I purchased this engraver. It was great and I was able to mark all 150 plus keys with no problem. In addition it is small enough to fit in my desk so I am able to keep it in hand when one of the older keys with no markings comes floating my way. I am sure I will find lots of other uses for this when I finish my current key process.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Brussell from Good Engraver I purchased this engraver a few weeks ago to engrave unique IDs for all of our construction equipment. So far I have engraved all sorts of different types of plastic and metal materials with ease. This engraver has the power to engrave just about anything and the diamond engraving tip lasts forever. I have engraved well over 200 pieces of equipment and have yet to replace the tip. The included stencil makes all the engravings look professional. The only negative is the vibration of the entire unit during prolonged use can cause hand cramping and fatigue but nothing a good set of gloves can't fix. Just wished they added a bit more cushioning to the handgrip but overall good product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Yes, you can engrave with a regular rotary tool, but you can't use a stencil since a rotary bit will eat right through it. Anything I try to freehand will end up looking like something a 3rd grader scratched on. Using this and the included stencil I can get legible info onto whatever surface I need to. My only knock is that this thing is LOUD! Hearing protection advised.

Adjustable settings let's you decide how deep, but I typically set it on max. Our scout troop uses this so much on mess kits, flatware, & pocket knives that I gave them my first one and but this as its replacement. Great tool!
