Do I need to put underlayment on top of this before I install carpet ?
Hello Shawn,
DMX Airflow is an underlayment, we do not recommend adding another underlayment over top of our product.

Are you able to frame your walls in the basement over top of this product? What method would you use to attach the walls through the product into concrete? (Ramset nails or tapcon screws?)
Negative. There should be something like 6" between the wall and the heating film.

Can this product be used under Laminate on main floor (normal wood sub floor) . What would the advantage be using this product
Hello:
Yes, DMX Airflow can also be used under laminate on wooden subfloors.
Moisture can be present throughout the entire house, and is not only present in basement or slab-on-grade. DMX Airflow will allow the wooden subfloor to breath so that moisture can evaporate freely.

I have 5mm polyvinyl chloride (pvc) floating “luxury vinyl plank”. Will that work?
Hello Jessie:
DMX Airflow has not been designed for vinyl plank flooring. DMX Airflow has been primarily designed for laminate and engineered hardwood, as well as carpet.
Lowe's does carry another product suitable for vinyl plank flooring (5mm minimum thickness) called DMX 1-Step 2.0, which would be suitable for this type of flooring.

R value
Hello Bobby,
Recently, we have added an additional layer of aluminum foil on top of the black foam, which increases the warmth factor by radiating the heat back to your floors, automatically changing its R-Value.
DMX Airflow is still being tested for R-Value, and we do not have those results yet. These will be posted on our website, once available.

Is it fire resistant?
Quite unlikely, it's made of plastic and foam.

Can this be used over a plywood subfloor in a 4 season sun room. Loose lay vinyl plank being installed over top
I would say yes we layed ours over the plywood sub floor and put laminate wood planks above. We love it. Immediatly felt warmer under feet and feels secure and almost no noise to walk on.

Excellent product, awfull tape
I used it for the entire basement with compatible SPC luxury vinyl. Floors are nice, warmish, no smell. BUT. There is a small leakage through the tape. It would be a disaster for laminate. The scotch that they supplied with the product is awflul, dollar store quality. Use blue technical tape and that will be excellent

Easy Installation / Good Value
This review is based on installation of DMX airflow one year ago.
I installed DMX in my basement underneath laminate. We were concerned about potential issues with the laminate getting wet and wanted something which was a little higher quality than the base subfloor underlayments and that was easy to install.
So far, there haven't been any noticeable water issues. There is no smell and no visible warping of the laminate.
The feel on the foot is decent. The floor is warmer with DMX and laminate than without. There is also no clicking sound which i know is a problem with the underlayments that are not padded on the bottom. It does feel a little more soft than having OSB underneath but it's barely noticeable and you get used to it quickly. Something to consider is that if your basement floor is not level, you will need to find a leveling solution prior to installation. I have a few spots that are a bit off and you can feel them when walking on those areas. These areas are only a couple of square feet in a light traffic area in a giant basement so I don't care and technically I should have fixed it before installation.
Installation is easy - you roll it out, cut at the wall with an exacto knife, and tape the seams. The alternative is a base underlayment with OSB or the expensive interlocking squares - both requiring more complicated cuts to be made. Also the alternatives are not waterproof and you won't be able to reuse them if soaked.
This product may seem expensive but just wait until it goes on sale. Also, you can save money as installation is doable for someone with little experience like myself.
Good luck!

Great product
I Installed over the concrete floor in my basement. Although it is a more expensive option then regular padding, it is well worth the cost, as the additional thickness will make the basement warmer in the winter and lower energy bills, along with the improved airflow under the floor to eliminate any moisture of mold that could develop with cheaper options.

Only good if your installing Carpet!
Purchased DMX subfloor (9 rolls) as I wanted to install LVP (luxury vinyl plank) in my basement. Basement slab is perfectly level. I purchased the LVP from a local flooring company, the product is high quality and cost me $4k. Unfortunately after the installation I noticed that almost every butt joint would click and come apart. I have installed a lot of flooring, myself and my crew installed the flooring correctly. The underlayment has too much play for a drop and lock LVP. I would also not recommend a floating engineered hardwood as there is too much risk. If your going to install carpet you would be fine with this product, otherwise be warned. Spend the extra $1/ft2 and buy an actual subfloor or install 3/4" OSB over top of foundation drainage board, same result but more economical. I highly regret installing this product, especially after all of the effort and money it took to finish my basement. Unfortunately if you remove LVP after installation the joints get damaged as the product is thin. So essentially I am stuck with butt joints that don't lock together and click because I don't want to waste another $2k-$4k damaging the LVP to pull it up. I also should note this is the very first review I have ever written, I felt compelled to warn people of my mistake.
