If using DMZ 1 step under vinyl plank do you remove the underpaid from the plank or just install with padding directly onto DMZ 1-step? Thanks
Hello Nancy,
Yes, you can install LVP that includes an underpad over DMX 1-Step 2.0. As long as the overall thickness is 5mm or greater.

I have 4mm vinyl plank flooring. Will this still work? If not do you recommend or have any underlayment that will work with this flooring thickness?
Hello:
Click vinyl plank flooring that is less than 5mm is not recommended for direct use on DMX 1-Step 2.0.
We suggest installing click vinyl plank flooring that is 5mm thick or greater directly on top of DMX 1-Step 2.0.
Typically, the thinner the flooring, the thinner the joints and therefore the flooring becomes more susceptible to vertical movement.

Thinking about using in a basement. Would it make sense to run it up the walls to make a continuous air gap from the wall, under the floor and back up the other wall?
Hello:
Non-load bearing walls can be installed on top of DMX 1 Step 2.0. First, DMX 1-Step 2.0 is to be rolled out, all the way up to the bare foundation walls 2 or 3 rows of dimples. Seal the top of our product with low expansion foam leaving a 1 inch gap every 10 feet. At this point walls can be framed on top of our product.
When framing and securing the base plate on to the concrete subfloor tapcon screws are used, which are to be dipped in a polyurethane sealant. Ensure that when building the walls to comply with the local building codes.
If installing DMX 1-Step 2.0 in a space where the walls are already in place please follow our installation instructions that are available in each roll and on our website.

What assembly would you recommend putting under tile so that my bathroom floor height is similar to my vinyl plank with DMX? Do you manufacture an underlay that works with tile?
Hello:
We do not have a product specifically for tiles. When installing tiles, the use of an uncoupling membrane is recommended.

Can I lay this down on my concrete basement floor, then put plywood on top, then carpet? If so, do I put my wall framing up first, or do a frame on top of the underlay and plywood? Thank you
Hello Kyle:
Yes, 5/8-inch plywood and carpet can be installed over top DMX 1-Step 2.0.
Both approaches are possible, non load bearing walls can be installed on top of DMX 1-Step 2.0 and plywood, if desired. Or, if preferred, walls can be framed and finished first, after which our product can be installed, leaving a 1/4-inch gap away from the finished wall for air circulation.

Is this compatible with radiant floor heating systems? Would it be installed under the dmx or between it and the flooring?
Hello Joe:
Radiant heated floors that are covered by felt or fabric can be used on top of DMX 1-Step 2.0, as long as the temperature does not exceed 85F. Before installation we do ask to confirm with the manufacturer of the radiant flooring heating system, confirming the compatibility of their product with DMX 1-Step 2.0.

Can your DMX 1 Step 2.0 white side down be full trowel glue down to clean concrete, then click floor floated on top?
Hello Dave,
DMX 1-Step 2.0 is to be floated on top of the concrete floor, on top of which floating floors such as vinyl plank (5mm thick or more), laminate and engineered hardwood can be installed.
We do not recommend for our product to be adhered to the concrete floor.

Best vinyl underlayment bar none!
My contractors love this underlayment. I used it in my condo because it has the highest sound absoption out of all the underlayments and because Scott McGillvray swears by it. Some of the other products say they are higher (75 IIC) but the test results they are all skewed to make it seem higher than it is. DMX 1-Step was the only product my condo board accepted with ease and it rolled out like glass which was very surprising. I thought it would have a natural curl to it, but it didnt. The vinyl was quite good too. Overall I am very happy and my next door neighbour is doing her floors and she is doing it with DMX now too. My downstairs neighbours cant hear a peep (before they did) and I am happy I went this route.

Great product that's becoming popular.
I actually give it 4 1/2 stars. Overall a great, easy to use product that will allow my basement floor to breathe and keep my flooring in great condition. I'm sure it helps keep the floor slightly warmer than being directly on concrete.
The only minor drawback that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that it gives the flooring a slightly hollow sound. Not enough to be annoying but enough to notice.

Great product for basement
Very easy to work with. Creates a softer and warmer floor. It is solid and doesn't sink when jumping on it.
