Vastly superior to my old Dremel corded tool
I purchased the DeWalt DCS56B multi tool as a replacement for my old Dremel variable speed corded tool which had become increasingly noisy with hand numbing vibrations. It would also become uncomfortably hot to the touch after several minutes of operation. The Dewalt tool incorporates quantifiably superior features such as a brushless motor, tool less mount, larger tool spindle, 3 speed settings with variable speed trigger, soft start, LED work light, and much less noise/vibrations. The DeWalt multi tool is fast becoming my tool of choice as opposed to the Dremel which had developed into my last resort.

Last minute life saver
I do home theater and security system installation, on o job I needed to install a recessed door-bell camera did not have an oscillating multitool, I used a hammer and chisel. I got the doorbell installed but it took a very long time. The day after I bought the Dewalt oscillation mulit-tool. On my next job, a (5.1.2 home theater) installation I had a lot of cutting to do and I was amazed and impressed by how fast and precise I was able to make my cuts. My advice to anyone thinking about buying this tool is do it. Be sure to get a tool kit and a 5.0-Ah 20V battery or two.

Tool I didn't know I needed!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this 2 months ago because I really needed to trim some screws that had stripped and I thought I might have some other uses for it. Holy cow, I use it all the time. The precision cutting is great, whether it's trimming wood, cutting screws/nails flush or plunge cuts into wood or drywall. It works so fast and smooth, uses the same batteries as my other tools and swapping out the blades takes longer to pick up the new blade than make the change. Feels solid, stable and well built while still being light enough to easily control and use in tight or awkward spaces.

The multi-tool I've always needed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this tool to aid specifically in redoing some tile work in the master bathroom. It worked phenomenally. I do a good deal of wood working on the side as well and this tool works fantastic at so many different applications its ridiculous. From disassembling pallets in no time to getting some finishing sanding touches on hard to reach places this thing is fantastic. I can't wait to see what new types of addons they come out with for this tool. I would really love to see a metal specific "bit" for this tool as I found it works really well at trimming body panels on vehicles.

great tool for real hard to reach places
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this tool! By its nature, I don't use it all the time.. in fact.. I don't use it very often at all, But when I do use it, its a life saver and a superstar every time!
I picked up a cheaper set of blades for it from HF, and they work ok.. but the dewalt blades work way better. I use the cheap blades when i know they are going to get messed up from the job, and save the dewalts for when i know they'll be fine!
The tool is so handy because you can cut / manipulate your work surface at any angle, and even in tight tight areas. There are also a large quantity of different attachments you can get for a plethora of different jobs. I personally like the sander attachments to get sanding done in tight areas.
It was recommended to me by a craftsman buddy.. and I've never regretted buying it ever since! (should have bought it years earlier!)

Good for quick work, not for precision
This oscillating tool works great for jobs where you need one of the three speeds provided. If you pull on the trigger all the way, it's a very controlled tool. It works great for cutting drywall for electric boxes, undercutting door casings for floor installation, and for sanding. It's been a go-to tool on the jobsite for those tasks.
Why a three-star review? The variable speed trigger is frustrating to use. A slight increase in pressure causes a big jump in speed. For those jobs where precision matters, this has been a major disappointment (e.g. using the tool with a diamond blade to cut out grout). The tool would jump from the grout line as the speed unexpectedly increased, damaging surrounding tile. For these jobs, I'll stick with my corded oscillating tool that can be locked on at any speed desired.

Best multi-tool I've used
I use multi-tools often in my work and have had access to one that someone else owned, but it's always been a corded tool. The convenience of a battery operated one is probably one of the best features, but I also like the variable speed and the three power level settings. The few times I have used the tool it performed flawlessly and cut quickly through the materials I was working on. Very happy with this tool.
