I charged the battery for 1 min and a few seconds to just test the drill and boy what power!! i ended up charging the batteries to full capacity in under 20 mins or so. The drill has a power setting. Just using it on the level 1 was more than enough to get the job done. Its light and easy to hold. The battery is versatile and can be used in a number of dewalt tools and it is 20v. XR stands up to its reputation. I didnt see XR inscribed on the battery though. But overall a fabulous kit if you get it for its low discounted price.

Chuckless collar is excellent. The jury is still out on the power savings of the brushless motor ... time will tell. --- --- Battery replacement costs make it more economical to just replace the entire tool rather than purchase a battery (this was the main reason for the loss of 1 star in the rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Eric from Outstanding Drill and Impact Driver I bought this product as upgrades to my base Dewalt 20V drill and impact driver as they’ve seen hard use and started to develop a lot of slack in the drive, and I am impressed with the XR series products! Both seem to have more power than the older version as well as a longer run time on a single charge. They have a better fit and feel than the old model as well. You can definitely tell where the extra money goes with the upgraded quality product. This was a rock solid purchase and a great product. I highly recommend these for anyone who uses their drills professionally or puts your tools through the mill!

The battery - while not tested for more than a few hours at a time - is up to the task and they give you a spare. I just hung up some blinds with the drill and it was pretty simple. The smaller size of the drill compared to older models is good for tight spaces and it’s not heavy. No complaints. Again, mine was for general use. If you use this all day in a professional setting, you may need larger or fast charging batteries to keep up. I like the compact bag to hold the items. The bag feels strong enough to prevent puncturing with the tools and isn’t bulky.

And the fact that they hold a charge for long periods of time between uses is so amazing to me .Now I'm really just a weekend warrior but I use all my tools as much as possible and 95 percent of my tools are DeWalt they all fit my hands so we'll all really like is DeWalt brushless cordless and hand tools . I realize that I probably won't win this contest but every bit of extra money I receive I put towards a DeWalt product. I thank you very much for your time have a great day.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Rosh from Not as expected. The kit is well priced with 2 batteries included. Both units have very high torque to handle almost any job you throw at it. Batteries last well to. But there is a big complain. The drill slams every time you release the trigger (specially at high speed setting). Some people say that is normal as that is the electronic brake. But it shouldnt be that way. Slamming will definitely shorten the life of moving components. Specially the bit comes of after 3 - 4 slams. Bad design I would say. Most probably going this back to the store.

The impact driver has excellent trigger control. I also like the led lights. One thing that is missing is a place to store a driver bit.

If your a dewalt fan the dewalt 887 impact driver included in this kit is dewalt best impact yet and most powerful impact driver dewalt makes at the moment. It's one powerful beast !! 3,600 ipm( impacts per minute ) 3,250 rpm ( rotation per minute ) and has 1,825 inch pounds of torque ! For those who don't know much about what that all means I will make it simple for you it's excellent and impressive it has all the power and speed you need . It's one of the most powerful impact drivers out there. !It will drive big lags home and any screw put in front of it . It will do almost everything you ask of it .it does have a speed/power selector for when you don't need a lot of power . The impacts 1/4 inch hex chuck one handed quick releases is awesome ( every impact needs this ) the 887 is built robust,solid and rugged . Icing on the cake she's a brushless !Dewalt has the best LED lights of any impact by any company . Now on to The drill in this kit it is good as well , has a nice heavy duty tank of a metal chuck , 20 minute flood light is different and kinda neat may not be for everybody ! The drill will do 95% of what you need . The real star of the show is the dewalt 887 impact driver in this kit !! Both units are very comftobale and somewhat compact . This is a SOLID kit and great choice !

I use the impact nearly ever day at work. It has more than enough power to deal with nearly all job site fastening application. The drill is a great little compact tool and it has plenty of power, but I’ve recently upgraded to the DCD996 heavy duty hammer drill because it met my needs better, so now it’s my back up. The 2ah batteries are great light weight batteries anode they easily last all day with medium use. Over all it’s a great set and it has become my tools that I can’t go without.

It wasn't until I purchased this impact driver did I really understand what I was missing out on. Absolute power in my hands, not to mention an excellent grip that feels like it forms to my own hand. It's a very balanced and compact too but full of torque and power. I would highly recommend anyone to use this product and I'm so glad I finally went out and got one for myself to use on my home projects. An absolute gem, it will be the last combo kit you will need for a very long time!!!

I feel like I went from a '96 Corolla with a weird smell and that noise that I can't locate that stops when I get close, and starts again when I give up on looking to a Bentley. I was super impressed with the power, and battery life. This has been my favorite upgrade/investment so far.

Last December I decided to upgrade to the powerful 20 volt XR combo drill and impact and it is much more powerful than my previous 12, and 18 volt models but yet not so heavy that you get tired utilizing the tool. Just yesterday my brother in law and I completed installing 3 metal roof projects ( boat cover 12x24, dock cover 15x20, and an RV shade 10x18) without even having to recharge batteries. Awesome product highly recommend and don’t shy away from 20 volt XR.

What I like about it is the weight, the power, balance, and the chuck. You can tighten it with one hand. I read some complaints about the chuck, but I don't understand what the struggle has been. I also like the work light that is attached. Not many cons, although I did notice that the directional button was a little difficult to push at times. It will probably work out with time. The only real con is the price tag. If you have the money, then this is a wonderful drill set and I highly recommend it. But if you are on a budget, many of these features can possibly be bought for 70% of the price.

This is hands down the best drill/driver anyone could use. It’s light weight, very powerful, and easy to use. The grip and balance of the drills is very well though out. Love finding excuses around the home/ projects so I can use it.

This combo set performed outstanding. 4 thousand 1 1/2 in sheet metal screws and 5 thousand 4 1/2 in exterior wood screws without a problem. Love them.

Especially enjoy the continuous use of the Dewalt brand reliability and what seems like constant use without daily charging. I've had no problems after several drops to the floor. These tools are durable. The only weakness I've discovered to date is the inconsistent life of my older batteries. I hope to experience better performance from the brushless tools. In store customer service was key in finding the right product to fit my needs.

This combo is a great addition to my tool set and will definitely help accomplish many other projects. The drill has enough power and battery to last through any indoor or outdoor project. Brushless is the only way to go when you need the most power. Wouldn’t settle for anything less. The combo package is a great price & the interchangeable battery is the best way to build you tool collection. I highly recommend these drills.

Both of the tools are XR, but the batteries are not. At least, unlike previous XR tool purchases, the batteries don't have XR anywhere on them. The picture included online shows XR batteries attached to the tool. So i assumed that's what came with them. I was mistaken and almost took them back. But i needed them immediatly for work so to the loss.

The impact is a powerful little tool and with the addition of the drill I now have two drills and no longer have to change the drill bit back and forth when I am using 2 different sizes.

Trying to get repaired through Dewalt warranty has been nothing short of a nightmare. Wish I never purchased. Dewalt isn't what it used to be.
