Attach the one-handed locking dust bag on the electric orbit sander to collect dust.
- 3.0-amp motor with variable speed that spins the pad at 8,000-12,000 OPM
- Shorter height allows the user to get closer to work piece for sanding
- Rubber over-mold in all of the critical areas of the sander
- Separate counterweight design reduces vibration for improved comfort
- Improved dust-sealed switch to protect against dust ingestion for longer switch life
- Improved dust collection and interfacing with our vacuum locking system
- Dust port is designed to fit directly to the DWV010 or DWV012 dust collectors
- To attach dust port to other vacuum systems with 1-1/4 In. hoses, use DWV9000 universal quick connector

Great sander, but loud and messy
This sander is great in many ways.
Pros: Super light weight, sanding sheet is adhered to a foam base that makes the sanding even at angles or on uneven surfaces, Can connect to a shop vac for dust collection, great price
Cons: Lame dust collector - You might as well not have that dust collector on the end because it barely collects a thing. After attaching the shop vac to the end instead, there was a dramatic difference in the flying dust. The cord is super short IMO. It is VERY loud. After sanding some still-hanging doors for 15 min, I felt like my hearing was severely damaged for a good bit of time. I'll wear ear protection next go around.

Dewalt ROS Sander - I don't know why I waited
I finally upgraded and purchased a new Dewalt ROS Sander. Some of the decision was thrust upon me when I decided to tackle a sizable boat renovation project and hand sanding wasn't cutting it and my old sander went the way of the Dodo. Anyway, the performance of this sander was excellent with highlight notes for the dust collector, speed control, comfort, and ease of changing the sanding pads. After several hours of working on the boat, in between farming projects, I was impressed by the amount of sanding I was cover and the boat renovation is good for it. I feel like a dope for waiting so long to get one.

Great Sander
Purchased this as a replacement to an older Porter Cable 5 hole sander that finally bit the dust (no pun intended) when I accidentally dropped it on the floor. This sander is much quieter, has a much nicer dust bag that actually works until full, and fits my hand better than my old PC. I probably would have purchased the variable speed model, but they were out of stock and I needed something that day to complete a project. This one was about $30 cheaper and after thinking about it, can't recall a situation where I wished I had a variable speed model anyway. Thank you again DeWalt.

Nice Sander
Okay this review is going to be kinda sexist, as I am going to talk to all the DYI LADIES! So you DYI men with bulky muscles just stroll on by. Ladies if you are needing a ROS sander and don't have the muscles of a contractor then this sander is perfect. It has enough power to do any DYI from furniture refinishing to a Remodel, but without needing to be a bulky dude to handle it, as the hand grip is not too big, that it makes using by us DYI gals impossible. It gave a good even sanding and hooked with with the optional coupler to my nifty shop vac. Plus the price point was a value. Newbie DYI gals hook and loop type sander is velcro. JSK :-) now go forth and chalk paint but prime before you upcycle.

Light, quiet, powerful, well built
I finally had to retire my old Porter Cable sander after 20 years. I always thought it was a bit underpowered. Now I know for sure it was. Man, the time I could have saved over the last 20 years with this baby! Seems solid, time will tell. I like the bag carrier. The built in dust collection is OK, but I downgraded the design by 1 star because I am not too crazy about the dust collection port connectability. I had to rig a connection to my vacuum cleaner with Gorilla tape. Lowes does not sell to sell the adapter. Sandpaper lasts ten times as long with a vacuum connected.

Great Machine!
I have had one of these machines before and it has been one of the best power tools I have ever owned. I gave it to my daughter and needed another, which prompted this purchase. The only thing I don't care for about this unit is the way it hooks up to the vacuum. The old one took the nozzle in a tight fit that made it a "hands off" situation to hook up the vacuum. This one does not fit quite so well and I will have to look for an adapter to facilitate operation with the vacuum.
Otherwise, this is just like my old one and a joy to use. I like the soft case too.

If only a dust collector adapter was included
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This ROS holds up to the favorable reviews that caused me to choose it over others. Sadly, the size of the dust bin makes it look like a joke. The only option is to spend another $20-35 on a DWV9000 adapter and then look for something more to mate that to a real duct collector hose.
DeWalt makes good tools but their engineers really ought to talk to one another to find some common method for dust collection that doesn't require their users to buy a specialized adaptor for every tool. If the dust port on this tool matched any one of my other DeWalt tools, I would have rated it a 5.

Replaced My Old Sander
My old sander was about 25 years old. I do a little wood working. Some refinishing. Odds & Ends. But the switch was going out & I was stripping & refinishing all the doors in my house. So I bought a new sander. It is so much quieter than my old sander. And the dust is contained with the bag. Less mess to clean up. Works well. It doesn't pull in my hands. Doesn't gouge the wood when I turn it on. Biggest plus my old sander used adhesive sand paper so I got to replace the pad on the bottom every few years. The new one uses Velcro so I hope that means the sander pad will last longer.
