Yes. But depending on thickness and density of material you are cutting, those batteries might not last long.

Does this tool come with the battery? It states took only.
Does this saw have the ability to cut threw a reg 2X4 with the blades it comes with or can you buy longer blades to cut 2X4's.

Solid saw with great power
This little saw has a lot of features. The shoe angle adjustment locks works well. It has a dust blower function you can disable that directs air down at the blade, no more constant blowing while cutting to see where you are going. The motor is powerful, much more than my corded ones even, it's awesome. The variable speed trigger is great also, much nicer than it being a separate setting that you need to stop and adjust in my experience.
The only thing I find it lacking is a light - DeWalt is pretty good about LED lighting on their tools, and this one could use it. Not sure why they would have omitted this on a jigsaw as it's pretty important for detail work.

Excellent Saw
I scan reviews looking for problems people have had, and usually ignore the positive reviews except to note their number. But I wanted to review this unit in particular because it really is excellent. Easy to use, good feel, it makes jigsawing almost fun. The variable blower on it is very helpful for keeping an eye on the line you've drawn. The battery placement looks a bit awkward but does not significantly off-balance the saw.
I would recommend investing in a high amp-hour battery. As with other saws (I also have the DeWalt 20VMax Recip Saw, it's also a great unit), the battery will not last long like it does in a drill.

Blade Sometimes Falls Out
A nice jigsaw, except the blades sometimes falls out. I first put a coarse blade in, and it worked well. I decided to switch to a finer blade (all blades are Dewalt brand), and that's when the problems started. It wouldn't pull out by hand after inserted it, but a couple seconds after hitting wood, it would come off.
After much consternation, I went back to same the coarse blade - it worked better but now occasionally falls out. It's possibly the blade, but the design just holds it in by a little tension.
On the plus side, the battery lasts a long time (much longer than it does on my DeWalt circular saw)

well made extra tool
You can order a case from Service Center, in case you got the "tool only". I picked up also a rip fence and a vacuum nozzle. The P/N on nozzle was not correct, use 584450-00. Listed item#73 instead of #93 as shown. If you don't like being in the dark, check out #DCL061. All in the 20 volt line. This saw uses the "T" style blades, don't buy the "U" style to use with it. Also has orbital action, dust blower control, and blade bevel lever. Nice tool and would recommend it for any one.

One of the best Jigsaws
Love this Dewalt Jigsaw. Very solidly built, and ergonomically designed. Like the quick detach toolless attachment of the blade, but wish the blade holder would accept the blades that have 2 holes in them, since I have a ton of those and they've been around for a long time.
The 20W battery is a great system. Trying to get out of the 18V system as the batteries seem to be failing. This saw should provide many years of good use.

Awesome power
This one is a no-brainer. It has a great control and great power.
I like that the blade stops instantly when you let off the trigger instead of having the wind down effect.
I mostly use it to notch out 1/2" OSB around drainpipes and duct work.
When using it with a guide to rip, the blade holds very true and straight even when applying a little more pressure than is needed. The oscillating function is a very nice feature when you need to crosscut something fast.
It's great to have this much power and work without cords.

Amazing Product
I bought this jigsaw just to add it to my tools but end up using it several times during a remodeling and I must say for a battery operated tool it works perfect. Actually it works better than corded jigsaw I had used before. It is very powerful and it can cut any wood easily. Just make sure to push the blade in all the way or it will fall out. Read the instruction***

20 Vold Cordless Jig Saw (DEWALT)
As with all
DeWalt tools I have used, they are high quality ,long lasting, easy to use and I highly recommend. Only Con to this particular purchase, I wish it had come with a Battery. Purchasers beware, if you do not have another DEWALT 20 Volt tTool and Battery, you will have to purchase a battery and charger seperatly.
