Very good secondary tool
I purchased the dewalt impact driver to add to the dewalt drill I owned. Now I can have a drill and a driver without having to keep switching out bits on my drill. Since I already had a dewalt drill with 2 batteries, I now have 3 batteries with 2 dewalt products.
As for the performance: the impact driver does what it needs to and drives screws without stripping the screw heads. This version only has a single light.
It’s fairly light weight and very comfortable.
I would’be gone with a different brand if I didn’t already have a dewalt cordless product. But it has already served me well and I hope it lasts long after the warranty.

Dewalt vs Dewalt XR
Good Day All!
Like to start by saying, that DeWalt is by fare the way to go! But as fare as the basic 20V max to the 20v max XR there are little to no defiance.
The basic is what it is and will do the same job as the more expensive XR modals that have the same spec, for torque and durability.
The XR modals do have some more Bells and Wessels than it counters part that are seldom used., but are nice for bragging rights.
So if you are looking for a tool that will get it done or bragging rights to a family member or neighbor.
Buy a DeWalt and show off that pretty yellow and black case.

Dewalt impact driver
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have literally owned more than 10 cordless drills in my life using them both for business and home use but now I find (at 77) I have a hard time tightening & loosening the chuck...with the ease of inserting & releasing the bit on the 1/4 " impact I find myself back into woodworking projects again.

20v brushless 1/4 impact tool
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the brushless tools at this point don’t even understand why they put the 20v with brushes out. Being brushless makes the battery last longer and love the fact I was able to get a good deal on this set it came with a charger and one battery. Was a little worried about only getting one battery but it out last the one I received when I bought the 4 tool set. Can’t say enough good things about all of the tools I’ve purchased from DeWalt at Lowe’s. And registering the warranty on the DeWalt web site is very simple, and always pleased with DeWalts services.

I use this too make a living!
I bought this impact about 7 months ago for professional use, I use this tool everyday as a professional carpenter and it never stops! We have tons of brands on site all the way from Dewalt and Milwaukee to Porter Cable and Black and Decker and this thing is really top of the back. No matter the weather or the job The 787 prevails through rain snow and bitter cold sometimes driving hundreds of 3 inch deck Screws in subzero temps. My coworker running the Milwaukee and I even race putting in screws and they are neck to neck no matter what. I've used this for simple screws up to 6 inch lags with no pilot and it always drives it home, you just cant beat it! Its been dropped from ladders, roofs, decks, out of the truck been rained on snowed on beat on and just doesn't slow down.

Great Size Rotary Tool, for Light Jobs.
It's a quarter inch rotary tool, with impact function. It's small, light, and maneuverable. I was able to drive 4" x #10 construction screws with ease. Impact function engages at the end of screw travel, as rotary effort increases. Removed some #8 Allen Head Machine Screws that had been over torqued. Of the 8 stuck screws, 5 came out without issue. There were the remaining three, that had been driven beyond stupid. The impact driving force stripped the Allen Bit, and removed most of the screw bit surface. Had to resort to drilling, and an easy out. No fault of the tool, but it indicates there's plenty of power, to ruin an improperly driven screw. I won't be using this driver for anything heavy. 5/16 hardware, might be beyond this tools capability.

My 1st Impact Driver. Wow!
A friend said as many wood screws as I drive, I should look into getting an impact driver. I asked, "but I've been using a Dewalt 7.2v Dewalt cordless screwdriver for many years and it is a SCREWdriver. Why pay for something else to drive screws?" He said screwdrivers truly have their place but assured me I'd enjoy an impact driver. So I bought this impact driver and I was amazed how much faster I can set a screw than with my screwdriver. One quick zip of the trigger on this impact driver and the screw is in. A word of caution, though: It takes a little practice to know when to back off on the trigger before you over-drive your screws. It's a powerful tool and there's no clutch/torque setting adjustment. It's up to your own finger pressure to "feather in" the screw's final resting depth. In that regard, I do miss the adjustable torque setting ability of the screwdriver, but this impact driver drives a screw in the blink of an eye. As for my old 7.2v driver, I love the thing and I still use it a lot as a companion to my new impact driver. An impact driver cannot totally take the place of a cordless screw driver but in many areas it out-shines the screwdriver.

Great Deal & Tool
Replaced my old impact driver with this baby while on sale. Lighter than my previous model but just as strong. Great price for the kit, including battery, during Christmas, so bought a 2nd one to replace my 12v. Use the small batteries primarily for my flashlights.
