looks good
used it for a couple of months and the blades , rollers need replacing , then sparks were flying so I took it to service center for repairs and there it sits, have not seen it for almost three months cause they can't get parts , if you sell something please supply the parts to fix it

not a happy wood worker
the planer itself seem to work great for 6 months until it boke down and now I am waiting for two months while the service center try to get parts for it , if you sell something you should have repair parts readily available, I am loosing faith in Dewalt products , I'm only a hobbyist not a contractor but over the last three years I have had enough problems with your products that I'm considering switching to red products

Great planer, lousy dust/chip management
I have had this planer for 2 years now and have really enjoyed the results. I have run cocobolo, hickory, cedar, pine, red and white oak, walnut, wenge, etc. In other words, just about every type of wood available.
However, like so many others, the dust/chip management is atrocious. I don’t have a true dust collection system, but do use my shop vac, with cyclone separator, whenever I plane wood. And I have run it without the hood. And both ways result in chips jamming the exit, it just takes longer with the hood off.

Broken sprockets after planing 6 fir boards
I just bought this planer, used it on six fir boards and other than the fact that the dust extractor is garbage and spits more wood shavings back at you then out the back (as has been mentioned in other reviews) it worked fine until it stoped working. The rollers stoped feeding. I tried all suggestions in manual and on Dewalts "help" page and none solved it, then opened up the side panel and saw that the main sprocket that runs the rollers is broken. Obviously not made of strong stuff. Now I have a planer that doesn't plan and a house to finish

Falling apart before first use
Trying to plane a 20X20 area of hard wood brazilian decking and already went through 2 sets of blades and now the motor is bouncing up and down. Looks like the screws holding it onto the house have come loose. Of course I cant find a service manual on this worthless site and i'm wasting my day trying to figure out how to repair this thing instead of working.

What A Mess
Though I like the planer for the job it does planing boards and doing it accurately, I absolutely HATE the dust collection design. Apparently the designer was one of the 1st or 2nd graders of one of the managers. Did anyone test this out before selling this product? The collector is horrible. I've tried almost every conceivable way of ensuring that the chips get pulled out and don't clog so bad that the majority of the chips come back out the front. WHAT A STINKING MESS THIS MAKES! I guess my next option is to redesign the collection hardware myself and have it 3D printed to try it out. Shame on Dewalt for selling an inferior product like this.

Wish I bought it sooner
I bought this a month ago when Rona had a door crasher sale so I was able to get myself a planer for $390 taxes in shipped to my front door 2 days after my online purchase. I've never owned a planer before but this one is easy to use.
