Don't waste your money.
Just won't last. Leaking oil out of engine head. Loss of power. Get's harder to start after time. Sad.

50% of the product is awesome.
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I recently purchased this product and operated it for 3 hours. I've been trying for 2 days now to load the trimmer spool. Later today I'll see if my Stihl spools will fit on this unit. Engine runs awesome but the casing heats up and I burned my arm on it. It will likely be an awesome machine once I change the trimmer head.

Why Rona. Why
So I'm really curious as to why in the heck you would sell the machine.... A frail and delicate machine made to do nothing but cost you money... But don't sell the replacement parts.. forcing people to go to the website... Wait 6 weeks for an email... Then another 4 weeks for the part...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had my 470 almost 4 years now.. I love the power it gives.. like any product, parts will wear.. the nice thing about this product is that every part is easily replaceable.. so.. I've had to replace the recoil on year 3..cheap part and easy fix.. then a new head filled with string yet.. $20.. then the clutch/ drive shaft broke.. I even replaced and fixed that.. I hope they keep making the parts as it seems this model can't be bought anymore which is a bummer.. it does look like the 490 is about the same thing for a little more $

I bought this model last fall used it very little the engine is ok and starts great but the string attachment is a piece of garbage’ the second I’ve i used up the line the metel ring that y
The line goes through was gone, then about a week later the other one fell out . So without them the line doesn t load properly. After much anger i gave up and took the trimmer off my old home lite and snapped it in place and it works great so when you buy one of these go to a small engine dealer and get you a used head off a home lite. I ll never buy another one like this.

Cheap and plastic
So disappointing to be writing a negative review about a Cub Cadet, I could not have been happier with my old CC trimmer and my current push mower. This trimmer, however, feels so cheap and so shoddily put together I'm just waiting for it to fall apart in my hands. The first time I used it the bolt rattled out of the handle, thankfully I had a nicer spare handle to put on. The string guard is just cheap wobbly plastic so I just use the trimmer without the guard. The engine rattles so badly I can’t tell if there is some sort of problem or if something around it is just loose. There is no space between the engine cover and the engine so the plastic part that rests against your elbow gets just as hot as the engine does. No matter how short I make the string the engine bogs and the whole machine wobbles when I give it any gas so it’s almost like the engine can’t even handle the load of just the normal head. Plus just everything from the grips to the fuel lever to to the choke switch feel so plastic and cheap and ready to break at any moment. I ordered direct from CC and have already gassed and oiled it up so I can’t ship it back and I will use it until it stops but again so so disappointed in CC for this one.
