Don’t buy nothing from craftsman.
I bought this weed eater and to be honest with you, I’m very disappointed with this product. I’ve only had the weed eater for 15 months and it’s already out of service. It started to make a weird sound then it just shut off and now I can’t even pull the string to crank it because it’s locked up. I hate to waste money like that. At least give me two years before the product goes bad. I wish I would’ve read the reviews before I purchased this weed eater, I can promise you I would have not bought this trash weed eater.

Doesn't load string correctly
This is my first Craftsman and gas weed eater. I bought it so I could use it at my hunting lease, as well as home.
However, the stringing process is horrible. Every time I have to add new string, it wraps both strands on the same level instead of one insertion point on top and one on bottom. Therefore, one of the sides will not feed because it is entwined with the other side and I have to constantly open the string attachment, pull out the string and restring it. My edging now takes me 3X's longer than with my older weed eater.
I have used it three times and I am about ready to take it back.

Trim Head is nothing but problems
I bought this unit and I constantly have issues with the line cutting off or jamming. I have to stop and reset the trim head. Recently the trimmer stopped spinning and the plastic fused to the shaft and I cannot get it off to put on a replacement. I am trying to by the whole trimmer assembly again, ad the power head is good and i have the hedge trimmer. Craftsman used to be quality, I recently returned and older ratchet to Ace and they replaced it. Hopefully someone from craftsman will contact me with a case # to help me get a replacement attachment.

Craftsman weedwacker
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a Craftsman WC2200 25cc, 2-cycle 17 inch attachment capable curved shaft gas weedwacker trimmer and I love it. It was very simple to put together and operate. It came already stringed and had a premixed can of fuel/ oil ready to go. The handle and string guard were very simple to attach, it’s not too heavy, it was easy to start and handle. We didn’t get much use out of this yet as we are changing seasons so it’s pretty much done for this year however, I’m excited to look into getting the edger and hedge trimmer attachments for next season. We are very satisfied with this weedwacker.

Pull cord broke on second use
I bought this because I usually have no issues with Craftsman products & because it was lightweight. I never even got to finish weedeating my yard with it. I started it up the first time, no issues...i was mainly just testing it out. I used it for a few mins & shut it off. When i went to go use it the second time to actually get the real weedeating done, the pullcord broke. It started but once i had to shut it off, i couldnt start it back obviously.

Bad String Design
The string winding system is poorly designed. I have to stop every 5 minutes to restring this machine because the line binds up and doesn't advance. The instruction on replacement string are simple, and that part is easy. But the string never unwinds smoothly.
Oddest is the design of the hole for the string - the string catches behind the raised disc where the string enters. Or the string gets tangled on itself based on how the winding mechanism pulls the string into the head. Or, if you load the recommended 3" of string into the catch mechanism, the inserted end protrudes through the head just enough to catch the wound string. The only option is to remove the cap, pull all the string out and restring. In my small yard, I have to restring at least 3 times, sometimes every 3-5 minutes.

Better Than Expected
I have owned many 2 cycle string trimmers over the decades. I wasn’t sure if I should go electric, but I purchased an electric string trimmer two years ago and it wasn’t a good product. Not sure I wanted to spend half again as much on a new-to-market electric model. Craftsman has made millions of these things. The price is lower than a comparable model twenty years ago. Plus, I have accessories for this kind of model, an edger, a blower, other string trimmer plug ins.
Anyway, so far, a few months in, this Craftsmsn trimmer exceeds expectations. It starts reliably, runs great, AND the string reload feature is the bomb. Best string reloading system on the market.

horrible!
I bought this at the beginning of last summer. worked fine other then trimmer head was junk. easy to replace though. This year however? After being lightly used last year, the pull cord starter broke. And you would think that it would be an easy piece to replace yourself! wrong! I would not recommend to anyone. Actually, I never want to go craftsman again! I'm a new homeowner and I thought buying a reputable name would help me along... WRONG! the blower, weed eater and my ride on mower ALL have had issues in my first year! I feel like it's pretty much 3k down the drain.. but I'll try and make the mower last.. everything else, I'll just replace it. No need for headaches like this.
