Rated 4 out of 5 by LakeMechanic from Not 3 1/8" [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The flutes are 2.055", the tip to hex thingie is 2.594" & the tip to end of hex thingie is 3.856", so if one wants to pre-drill a screw hole, absolute max is 2.6", not 3.1" Except that it's not as long as advertised, it is a good drill, hence the 4 star rating.
