Please don't buy this!!
Wish I had read the reviews before purchasing this. We wanted to change the door knobs on our old doors and the hole was about 1cm too small so we bought this kit to make them the correct size. Immediately on the first use the alignment tab broke off one side. The guide kept shifting even though it was screwed in. Initially we thought it was possibly harder because there was only a little bit of uneven wood to drill but after the 4th door we realized it was just a cheap product. It was so bad on one door we ended up taking the entire door off. Look at our sad door.

Worthlessness
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been doing construction all my life and am very knowledgeable and experienced. It's Flimsy, cheaply made, plastic bends easily causing alignment to happen, if you use this might need to replace door. We tried on a piece of old door prior to using due to the reviews and it definitely misaligned and we were not able to make it work. So think twice and look for a solid metal door hole saw or a truely solid plastic that does not bend under pressure.

Disposable Jig
I’m a contractor and experienced carpenter. If you want a one-time-use tool, buy this! Can you use it more than one time? Sure. But you have to be extremely careful not to break it. The plastic is cheap and broke on my second door. And because its so flimsy, you have to be careful to make sure everything is actually lined up properly. Isn’t that what a jig is for? So that you can whip it out, drill, and be off? If you’re a homeowner and need it for 1 door, it’s probably a decent buy, otherwise, I would spend the extra money to upgrade.

Chinese plastic junk
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I hadn't even been drilling the first hole for 30 seconds before the drill-blade suddenly jerked and broke one of the spacing tabs. I thought I would still be able to use the jig as a template if I exercised extra caution but when I drilled through the other side, the hole was misaligned. A second attempt was made higher up but, AGAIN, misaligned. I even measured twice before drilling but the Chinese plastic was determined to fail. Trying to decide whether to drill 3rd hole free-style or buy new door.

Do NOT get this!
This product is cheap garbage and ruined my door! The drill bit broke in seconds. I am a very careful meticulous person and follow directions and most things turn out great that way. But when the product is cheap and substandard and results in your metal door being permanently damaged that's a nightmare! I immediately returned the product and went somewhere else to get a top brand product for the other doors, which worked exactly as I had pictured. I wasn't even trying to be cheap, this was the only product I saw on the shelf. Of note, even if the bit didn't break the product is cheap and flimsy and wouldn't likely result in the precision a meticulous person is looking for.

HOLE SAW/DOOR KNOB KIT
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Surprisingly flimsy and cheap for a craftsman product. The only reason i gave it a star is that the guide makes it easy to mark your holes evenly. But even that part was very soft and flexible. Arbor bit snapped 1st time using, drilling through a hollow core door, thats a cheap bit for sure. Dont buy it, not worth the price

Good idea but absolutely abysmal implementation
Flimsy plastic parts. One of the two plastic tabs that fix the set-back (2 3/8 or 2 3/4 inch) snapped off the first time I placed the jig on the door. All of the holes were then in the wrong positions - even the hole for the bolt was not centered properly on the door edge. I jammed the tab into its the correct position, but the hole positions were still off. I ended up positioning the holes the old-fashioned way, with ruler and T-square.
The guides that position the face bore holes did not press flat against my door (which was of standard width). Forcing them flat moved the hole center 1/4 inch.
The router guide is simply a joke.
The hole saws are the only part that work correctly. However, if drilling into a metal-sheathed wood door, as in my case, the 2 1/8 inch hole saw ends up jammed so firmly onto the arbor that it is virtually impossible to remove.
It's hard to believe that the once-renowned Craftsman quality has sunk so low.

Works for me
I bought this on the way out the door and did no research prior to purchase. I used it on 5 doors with no problems on alignment or durability. Yes it is flimsy but the hole saw barely touches the guide. You can start the centering bit and remove the guide if it concerns you. I like the bolt plate template and even the cheap router bit works as intended. Worked great on my solid and hollow core wood doors. Not sure how some of these misalignments are made in the photos.
