Horrible design, no instructions
There are no instructions on how to change the blade included with this product. There are no instructions on the Craftsman website. There are no Youtube videos for this particular knife. There are many complaints in the comments section about not being able to install a blade. To their credit, the Craftsman monitors apologize to those that like me are complaining about installing a blade, and provide an email address for the complainer to write to. All that is fine, but do Craftsman monitors add instructions to their comments - NO! Do the Craftsman monitors provide a link to a video illustrating how to change a blade to their comments - NO! For this reason I also give the Craftsman monitors 1 star. I guess there are no Craftsman bosses that care about customer satisfaction.

Nice product, but poor instructions
I had a hard time figuring out how to put the blade in. I'm used to utilities knives where you unscrew the screw on the side, open the whole thing up, put the blade in, then screw it back together. But this doesn't work that way. There's a graphic on the back of the package showing how to do it, but it's a little vague and there are no written instructions. (Couldn't find any online, either). What you do is slide the metal grip lever all the way forward. When you do that, you'll notice the little black button on the side near the blade end sticks out a little bit. Push that black button in. That releases the grip on the blade, so you can slide a new blade in (or take an old one out). Once the blade is in, release the black button and you're good to go. Really easy, actually.
Would have given it 5 stars had Craftsman made the instructions more clear. The weight and grip are good, and I like the different levels of retractability.

Setup Failed: Operation Unsuccessful
Well appears I have wasted my money. Glad was a gift card. Anyway I bought the retractable knife; but noticed you have to add the actual blade. I tried for about several months (5) on and off giving up. The blade does not fit and then gets stuck. Oh forgot to add the screw that came with it doesn't even fit. I was wondering why so loose. Additionally was a pain just to even take it off its package. Didn't think I needed a Phd to unlock this blade or cheat codes. Buyers beware do not purchase this item i might use it with the blade stuck due to I have some projects need a slicing but will have to store it in a safe space since it cant retract (doesn't stay retracted) and stays extended. Plus still looking for a screw to fit the hole at the handle.

Good Blade
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a good blade with a nice grip. I used it to cut out and replace some dry wall. I did not give it a 5 star because there was some hard glue in the blade slot from the manufacturing process. This made it hard to install the blade the first time. Good product, great price.

A terrible utility knife
This is one of the worst utility knives I have ever had. 1st off is opening the blade storage. There is a slide latch that is difficult to open. Then, it took me 5-6 tries to get it closed. 2nd is the slide for the blade which is very tight and difficult to slide the blade in and out. 3rd is the lock that allows the blade to be changed. Again, very difficult which makes it dangerous to change the blade. This utility knife should never have been allowed on the market. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because the shape is fair.

Needs instructions!
Good product but a new “mouse trap.” DO NOT OPEN HOUSING! Press top rear button to open blade storage. Press small button on side to release or insert blade. If you mistakenly opened the housing, swing open the storage area for easier alignment of housing.

The worst
I’d love to talk about how well this worked, but I never got to use it. This is the single worst utility knife I’ve ever been within 25 miles of. The process of changing the blade is so annoying and so unintuitive (no instructions!) that I broke a piece off of one trying to change it and threw away the other. I’m going to have to do what I should’ve done to begin with and just get a better one, which, conveniently is literally any other utility knife.
