Description
This Craftsman® mower features a 3-in-1 deck which includes side discharge, bag, and mulching. It is powered by a 159 cc overhead valve engine that provides you with the power needed to get the job done. The dual lever height adjustment makes adjusting your cutting height easy (6 possible positions). The mower is backed by a 3-year limited warranty.
- The 159cc overhead valve 4-cycle engine is easy starting with the auto choke system
- The check don't change engine oil feature eliminates the need to change the oil for the life of the machine

Gas possibly old. Now your going to dump out the old gas and possibly clean out the carburetor but go to a place that covers your warranty because if you start to fix it you'll null the warranty and have to pay for the repairs. Don't make the same mistake we did.

I tried starting it Today first time this season without success. I had bought it in summer of 2019. What are my options.
I bought mine last year. I was surprised there was no primer on it, (despite one being indicated in the owner’s manual). No choke either, nothing to help one’s efforts to start it. And the first time it took many pulls to start it. I wiggled the only moveable aperture on the machine (probably the governor). I dont know if that did anything but eventually it started. I ran it several times last summer and fall, and each time it took several pulls.
I put stabilizer in the tank in the fall. It started on the fourth pull this year. On the two occasions I used it (to mulch leaves).
Whenever a lawn mower or shredder or anything else doesnt start, i tske off the air cleaner and put a few drops of methyl hydrate in the air intake of the carburator. That always works.

Simple light mower
This is a great mower, don't be dissuaded by the other reviews. If you follow directions and common sense you should be fine. Starts easily hot, cold, new gas or old. Using it for a small lawn business and it's handling a lot of grass very well. Not sure how it will hold long term, but it's really a solid mower.

Good but could be better
Never had a lawnmower what had an auto primer before. This one does not like to start when warm. It will start right up when cold but my wife cannot get it going again after stopping to empty the bag. I does start again after a few minutes. Maybe it's a technique thing but she has no issues with our old Briggs and Stratton machine at the cottage.
I don't know why we needed an automatic primer. My guess is that it saves a bit of $ in manufacturing.
I would have given it 3.5 stars if that was an option.

Lawn mower review
After looking at available products in store I decided to buy this lawn mower. I brought it home and assembled as per instructions. Noticed minor scratches. Soon after second use would no longer start. Took a while to find a warranty repair shop for Craftsman and brought it there. Craftsman makes a garbage lawn mower and their limited warranty did not cover the repair.

So far so good.
Previous reviews had me scared.
Paperwork attached to mower mentions Canadian warranty so unsure of previous reviewers issue.
Easy to assemble when you read instructions.
Easy start usually on first pull.
Seems to be a loud motor but most gas engines are.

Gives a great cut
I have an acre to cut and this mower cant be beat for the price. Incidentally, I never use the bag as this has a mulching blade and cut grass should always be returned to the lawn

Few Issues
Bought this 6 months ago from Lowes. Worked for 3 cuts, drained gas and put away for the winter. Now spring and wouldn't start. Let sit and retried, would start for a second and die.. seems to be some sort of issue with the auto prime.. let sit overnight and tried again only to have the pull cord break... Getting a hold of warrantee place is a pain of someone transferring to someone else... Lowes tells you to call Craftsman, Canadian Craftsman site gives you American phone number, American Call center tried to transfer ...

engine dead in less than a year use
Used few times and just didnt start, brought to the repair shop and I was told that a valve inside the engine melted by the gasoline that destroyed the engine and irreparable. this issue is not covered by the warranty. I know I have used brand new gas every time and no gas left in the mower for the winter storage.
