The 2000 Series Craftsman(R) 26-in wide 5-drawer chest combines solid construction with a newly designed 12-in depth to offer a solution for those who are looking for storage with a smaller footprint. This chest is built to last, with an 18-20 gauge double-wall construction that strengthens the design. Recessed metal side handles on the chest make it easy to lift storage into place. The soft-close drawers gently pull themselves closed and will not slam shut. This helps keep your tools in place and ensures your drawers stay closed. Each heavy-duty drawer features a full extension design, can support up to 75 lb of tools and glides smoothly on ball-bearing slides. Finally, a keyed internal locking system with an included set of keys safeguards your most valuable tools. Black model.

How can I prevent the drawers from locking when I close the top lid?

Rated 4 out of 5 by Michael from Good Top Chest for DIY Homeowner I bought this top chest a couple weeks ago on sale. Overall I am very happy with it, especially for the price I paid. The soft close ball bearing drawers are really nice. I would recommend lubricating them to make them even smoother. The space under the lid is a great place for storing batteries for my power tools. The gas struts open and close the lid very smoothly. There was a minor issue with mine. When I close the top lid, the left side does not sit doesn't completely flush unless you engage the lock. It's only a fraction off, so it's not terrible, but it's noticeable. Also, the Craftsman logo sticker that goes on the underside of the lid is red and not black as shown on the picture. I would have preferred if it were black but, again, not a huge problem. The only things I wish were different about this chest would be for it to be 18 inches deep so it would cover the entire bottom cabinet it is designed to go on top of. I imagine that's it's only 12 inches deep due to weight capacity and tipping hazards. Also, this chest does not include any drawer liners. I had to buy a roll of drawer liner separately and cut it to fit the drawers. Not a huge deal, but if I had paid full price I would have been disappointed with that.

The deeper soft close drawers hold my tools and stay closed while I'm pushing it on my cart. The thicker material promises to hold up to even more on the job abuse than the last one. But at this price, I can afford to replace it. My co-workers were so impressed with it that two of the guys went out and bought themselves the same box that same weekend.

Only issue I found is with the gas spring on the box lid is if you only open it enough to get something out quickly it’s hard to close due to gas spring not fully extending.

It's becoming harder and harder to find good quality products these days without having to take out a small business loan to afford them. The drawer slides and rollers are super smooth on this chest and they won't open in the event the chest is tipped accidentally. I'm very happy with the quality of my 2000 series roller and chest, and the price was right. Note: The 1000 series which is the cheaper version of this setup is very cheaply made, do not recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by K123 from Good buy at sale price. Inspect it well before use Good buy at 50% sale price. Returned first one as lid latch welded on in wrong location stopping lid from closing. Second cabinet has sticking drawer closer that jambs drawer when opening. May need to exchange it as well. Rona has been excellent returning and exchanging items.
