Best Shop Vacuum I Ever Owned
I researched a multitude of shop vacs before finally deciding on this one. Out of the box it was great! The casters are grooved to connect and are held in by one screw each making them very sturdy. My first use was to clean the vertical dryer vent. I hooked up in laundry, climbed on the roof and started cleaning. At 25+ ft., this machine pulled a steady breeze and had suction enough to pull the vent flap down into the pipe. Now that is strong. The capacity is excellent and the plug drain for wet suction is a great addition. I love this vacuum and I am like a kid playing with toys everytime I use it.

Broken inside the box.
Canopy under the handle shattered with pieces on bottom of box. Opened the box to start a job in my garage. Temperature outside was in the high 90's. Had just brought it home directly from the store. It was still functional but you could see the blades of the suction motor. I was too exhausted to return it. Hopefully I can glue it together, if all the pieces are there. I should've trusted my instincts and gone with the DeWalt, instead. This is the second Craftsman Wet/Dry Shop Vacuum I've gotten over the years. The first had missing screws to attach the wheels. No more craftsman vacs for me.

Old was better.....
Had a 16 gallon Craftsman shop vac for over 30 years, so it was a no brainer to get another one when the old one finally died. Well, that's what I thought anyway. You would think that technology would progress after that long, but since the new vac can't even come close to how good the old one was, I guess that is not the case. Oh well, let's hope it at least lasts for a while.

Burning smell
I just purchased this shop vac from Lowe’s about 2 months ago, I have only used this shop vac to vacuum up the tile floors in my kitchen/dinning room. I planned on using it to clean out my vehicles but after maybe 6 uses in the house the dang thing started losing suction and sounded like the motor was dying along with a burning smell coming from the shop vac. I turned it off thinking that the ball was stuck opened it up and nothing was wrong. Turned it back on and noticed that the blower part is blowing metal dust out of the vents. I took the blower part off the bottom and ran my hand across the vents which left my hand covered in a gray metal soot. Maybe it’s just a fluke but I’m taking it back to Lowe’s.

Great vacuum, but not for professional detailing.
I've been detailing cars/trucks professionally for over 33 years. Craftsman 16 gallon wet/dry vacuums have been all I've ever used. Up until this model, I would rate every one 5 stars. They held up for years with plenty of power. We use ours 6 days a week, for hours each day. They always had a good "wet filter" available. Usually black foam, heavy duty, washable/reusable. My shop was in need of new vacuums, so I purchased TWO of these model #CMXEVCVVBVA1612's. This new vacuum has no heavy duty, washable/reusable filter available. When we do a full shampoo/scrub on an automotive carpet. We need a good filter to suck up not only water and shampoo, but also the dirt and debris (dog hair, dirt and gross things). The "foam sleeve" it comes with for water, just doesn't cut it. It gets full of debris, which get past the "mini foam sleeve" and into the motor/fan/blower attachment and output which is not good at all. The paper filter it comes with falls apart when it gets wet and is non cleanable/reusable. They don't last very long in our environment. I've looked almost everywhere and can't find any washable/reusable wet filter that will fit this new vacuum. It's just very sad that after over 33 years, I have to stop singing high praises for Craftsman vacuums. Being in the business so long, I have referred Craftsman wet/dry vacuums to MANY other detailers, shops and weekend warriors. Maybe if they come out with a "HEAVY DUTY-WASHABLE WET FILTER for this model and I won't have to switch over to another brand.

Effective and versatile
Powerful - exactly what I wanted for my thickness planer and woodshop. I tossed around the idea to get a large central shopvac when reviews of this size Craftsman would not work with the Dewalt planer. Not true. Works perfectly with a trash barrel and 4 to 2 coupling interface. All of the wood chips are vacuumed completely.
