It spans the depth of the closet. I made a pocket for the rod to slide into. The end of the tension rod unscrews so you can easily slide the rod through the pocket of curtains (or a sheet) then screw it back on. This rod is very sturdy and is well made. The finish is beautiful and I would use it to hang curtains in a main room of my house no question. It was very easy to install. Hanging onto both sections of the rod simply turn until desired length and tighten against wall.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Because there are very few doors in my house, I wanted to hang a curtain in one of my doorways to help keep the heat in during the winter. Not only is this tension rod very classy looking, it withstands a medium weight curtain and so it was perfect for my particular needs. I really did not want to drill holes into my ornamental wood doorway, and I did not have to do so on this occasion as the tension in this rod made it feel very secure when extended and twisted into place. I could not believe how quickly I was able to set it up from unpacking to fitting. It looks contemporary and is a nice change from the tension rods I have fitted in the past which were usually lacking the design elements that this one has. I love it, and I am now looking to replace the other tension rods within my home.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed to hang up a pair of blackout curtains in my room this product seemed to be the easiest solution as I didn’t have a current rod. I really liked that it was easy to install, no parts or tools needed. The only reason I have it 4 stars was due to it not being the sturdiest, I have found that if the curtain gets tugged on the rod will fall down, so be careful. Other than that this was a perfect solution and recommended.

It’s strong and holds about 15 shirts right out of the wash. Easy to set up and not only that it looks great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Pleased in TO from Pretty & Sturdy Most tension rods can't hold much weight. I have an old home. The window frame is not an even plane, so it's difficult for a tension rod to fully grip. This one can easily hold a heavier weight curtain, and I'm confident that the rod won't fall if my dog brushes by. And it's a good-looking design. Very well made for the price. I'd absolutely buy another if the need arose.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Kd01 from Wanted to be great, reality says otherwise I thought this product would be an excellent option for our bedroom window. Always trusted Umbra products. About a month after the rod installation, it fell off in the middle of the night (!). The curtain isn’t heavy at all. Still don’t understand why it’s not holding. Wanted to buy other rods for 3 other windows…. Will have to find another solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sherry D from Love these rods! I love these curtain rods. They are super easy to install, just insure you use the center brace for extra rod support. I have very light curtains hanging on them and have had no issues with them falling down. I don’t think the would suit heavy curtains. Also, love the stream line contemporary look!
