Will not last more than a year
I bought this grill with high hopes. I really liked the idea of an all-in-one grill. I even purchased the smoker add-on. I have gone through two cover due to the fact that they do not hold up to the elements...UV damage and are not waterproof. No, I can't figure out the point of them either. The grill cooks too hot on the lowest setting but after 7-8 months you will not have to worry about that because it will have rusted out. Mine rusted from outside in and inside out. The ignitor has not worked for months and now the whole inside has rust through. Do not listen to folks that add their review after their first burger. It will NOT last.

Perfect!
My husband couldn't decide whether he wanted a gas or charcoal grill. With his 30th birthday coming up, I had to make a decision fast! Out of all of the choices out there, I couldn't have gotten more lucky with the Duo grill. My husband, and our guests at his party, were blown away! Since the then, we've used our grill at least once, if not twice, a week. The gas is great when we are in a hurry, but the charcoal side gives us the option to do slower and smokier flavors. The side burner is an incredible addition. One night, we cooked our entire meal with the grill! Meat, vegetables and rice cooking all at the same time can't get any easier.

Amazing Grill - Second Time Buyer
I just purchased this grill for the second time. I am an avid smoker and griller "year round" so my grill is out on the deck 24/7. I was so pleased with it the first time, I "had" to have it again when it was replacement time. After getting spoiled with its duo abilities and sq. inches of cooking space, and its durability I couldn't settle for less. Friends and family are envious of this grill and are never disappointed on the food that comes off from it. I hope that Char Griller continues to make this grill for a very long time, because I am recommending it any time I can. What was even more amazing was that it was still the same price that I paid 5 years ago! Nice!!!

Rust bucket
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The duo started out good. However within 12 months, it started rusting despite the fact it was seasoned, always covered and cleaned after use. Thermometers went bad around the same time as well. The flame guards started disintegrating along with the brackets that hold them up. Chargriller customer service said it was my fault it rusted and their no rust warranty didn’t cover it. They were happy to send me the link for the $150.00 worth of replacement parts I could order.
Worst grill I’ve ever had. Never buy that brand again. It’s heading to the metal recycling dump with pleasure.

I would avoid this grill
I wish I had read the other reviews before purchasing.
After buying I noticed all the pictures and comments about rust and how quickly this grill rusts.
We immediately bought a grill cover, and I followed the manual for "how to avoid rust".
It did not work, our grill is just a little over 2 years old and the appears to be a decade old. The rust is really bad, and I fully expect to replace the grill next season.
It is a shame they use such poor quality steel, because beyond the rust it is a good grill. But the amount of rust, and how quickly it rusts is really disappointing especially considered we did everything we could to prevent it.
I won't be buying this brand again.

3rd year of owning the Char-Griller
The wife bought me this grill gas/charcoal combo 3 years ago and she also bought me the side add-on smoker grill. I have to say this is the best grill I have ever owned and I am 53yrs old. This system puts out the best tasting dishes. I can be smoking meat on the charcoal/smoker side, while also cooking corn on the cob on the gas side. I've also cooked for huge gatherings and used the gas side to keep the food warm, after cooking it over the coals. I've used this grill for 3yrs now and have not had even one issue with it. I highly recommend getting the small add-on smoker/side grill, it just makes this system so much more usable and makes it look even that much more impressive when you show it off to family and friends.

great purchase
Gas grilling is very easy anyone can do it . Now when you want to step out of your comfort zone and really start grilling and smoking this is a great product, the price is good and the possibilities are endless for experimentation with smoke. Never the less you can always use the gas side if you do not like the charcoal side or use it if u are cooking a lot of food along with the charcoal side .Keep it clean use a cover and take care of it as u would any purchase and it will take care of you . Having a lot of fun with this grill cooking more outside and spending a lot of quality time with the family OUTSIDE!

Garbage!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Guess this was my own fault to some extent. I wanted a unit that I could have the ability to use gas or charcoal. And to be honest, this unit worked great ..... For 5 months. Then it started to rust apart from the inside out. 2 sets of racks to replace the ones that came with the grill. Then the metal brackets that held the racks on even rusted off. Then the covers that disperse the flames, literally crumbled away in my hands. My fault in all this was this, GIMMICKY! I wanted something that would do it all..... For more than 5 months. PS. This grill was covered from day one. I'll never buy another "Char-Griller".
