Can the Eco Prim Grip be used over old vinyl tile? The tiles are the old and have asbestos in them. The tiles are secure but there is what appears is a floor polish on them. I am thinking I have to strip the wax off first before using the Prim Grip.
Per the vendor: ***Do not install over any substrates containing asbestos.***

Tiling over linoleum
I heard you can use Mapei EcoPrim over linoleum to give the grip to lay tile. I am here to tell you it works. I didn't want to take days removing and scraping up old linoleum and adhesive. The 16 x 16 slate tile I put down over the linoleum is glued down solid. Mapei rolls on easier than paint & cleans up with soap and water. I put two coats of it down, but have a feeling one would have worked fine. When done, the Mapei surface has grit similar to hardy board. This is a great alternative if your substrate and linoleum surface are glued down good and solid and don't want to disturb it.

Works good over cutback and carpet adhesive!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had some old carpet and 9x9 vinyl tiles in my basement that I removed during demo and used this product to prep the concrete for Self Leveling Underlayment. It bonded really well to the old adhesives. You MUST scrape as much of the old adhesive first, down to a real thin residue (i.e: hands and knees, no trowel ridges left to the touch) and then I used TSP to wash the floors of any surface contaminants before i applied this. Apply Eco Prim with a 3/8 nap roller and you're good to go. Well worth the money.

Works like a charm
I bought this to apply to my existing bathroom tile floor (from 1951 home). I painted it on with a paintbrush for the first coat, then applied a 2nd coat with a paint roller. It dried perfectly and had the texture of rough concrete. I did check the date on the product and it was made in Jan. of '17, so 6 months ago. I then used flexbond thinset to set the pebble tile, coated it with 511 enhance and seal, then grouted with sand beige (chocolate) grout, coated with 511 again and boom...new looking floor.

Works great!
I had an existing tile floor on slab. It was almost impossible to remove existing tiles. After having a difficult time trying to remove just one tile with a jack hammer drill I did some research and thankfully find this product. I put three coats of this product on my existing tile floor and it created a rough cement-like surface to adhere new tile. This product does not come off like some reviewers mentioned. Be sure to clean old tile very well before apply this and you will be happy. I chose a small marble tile for new floor and it came out great. No worries of failure.

Works great!!
Hi I'm a professional tile installer and custom designer.normally I will always do complete tear out and rebuild but, because of existing shower being built in late 60's of concrete and wire, and still solid and had never leaked combined with the higher cost. My customer went with tile over tile. Now as for SCRAPING OFF WITH FINGERNAIL,,,, I TESTED TWO WALLS PRIOR TO STARTING.ONE WITH NO PREPARATION BEFORE ECO PRIM GRIP,THE OTHER I THOROUGHLY CLEANED TO REMOVE ANY SOAP RESIDUES. RESULTS WERE NIGHT AND DAY. UNPREPED wall came off with fingernail the cleaned wall tough as nails!! So cleaned entire shower applied two coats of eco prop grip. Then coated the bottom half and shower floor with AQUA DEFENSE just for added peace of mind(leak wise) used mapei rapid set mortar.its been over a year and it's still water tight and solid. Since then I've used eco prim grip on other projects like tile over existing Formica backsplash, eliminates installing backer board and allows mastic to bond securely. GREAT PRODUCT ONLY DOWN SIDE IS ITS KINDA HARD TO FIND. HOPE THIS REVIEW HELPED

Eco Prime
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product works well. I install micro finish on walls and floors. I put it through the test with a sample board I used which was a 24x24 piece of tile and it passed the test for up to 3 months. I used it on one of my jobs and it works awesome. In order for this to work there is a curing stage, if applied and the same day you scrape it, it will come off. Once you apply it and you give it 2 days it will have an excellent bond.

over black cutback
I used this in a bathroom over black cutback. Its been over three months and so far so good. I hand scrubbed with tsp and rinsed thouroughly. Allowed the concrete to dry completely. Mixed with a drill and beater. Coverage went well using a roller. I did use a polymer modified thinset. Maybe it was over kill but i added the Mapei brand latex additive. Appears to be holding extremly well in this wet location.
