Good product, needs some improvements
I just finished installing this product. The ceiling looks great. The installation process was more difficult than the videos showed. Here are my comments, issues, and suggestions. 1) My basement is completely out of square. Establishing the grid was very time consuming. I had to use lasers to establish the initial top hanger and cross-tee rows. 2) Top hangers will almost always butt together between joists. The video states that this does not matter as you can use a small piece of runner to keep adjoining pieces together while fastening the next hanger to the joist. I would recommend putting a 1x2 block between the joists to secure the butt joint. 3) It is critical to keep the top hanger rows perfectly straight. This is very difficult if you do not have a helper to hold the hanger perfectly in place, otherwise you will get a curvy top hanger row. You will rarely get a cross-tee right at a joist where you fasten the hanger, so maintain the precise spacing is difficult because the hangers as so flexible. Doing this alone, I had to attach temporary L-brackets to each joist to hold each new top hanger perfectly in place with cross-tees before fastening to the joists. 4) The cross-tees are supposed to provide the proper spacing between the hangers, however, when I started to put the 2’x2’ tiles up, they wouldn’t fit. The fit from cross-tee to cross-tee was OK, but the tiles would cover the centre snap-in groove for runners. I had to trim 1/16” off of each tile. 5) Do not follow the installation instructions regarding the top runners. Putting all the tiles up first, then the runners is virtually impossible. After putting up each row of tiles, snap in the runners for that row before putting up the next row of tiles. I could not snap in the runners by applying an upward force alone. The top hangers are so flexible they just bend upward between joists (16” o.c.) as you try to push in runners, to the point that the tile breaks. I tried and tried but could not exert enough upward force to snap in the runners, without damaging the tiles, except directly beneath a joist. You have to grasp the top hanger and runner with your fist and squeeze them together. I was absolutely shocked at how much force I needed to get them to snap together. I lightly applied some clear wire lube on the runners to make them snap in a bit easier. 6) Given the difficulty I encountered with snapping the runners into the hangers, I dread the thought of ever having to remove some tiles to access the plumbing or wiring. 7) If I had to do this over, I would have put up furring strips perpendicular to the joists where the top hangers would be mounted to. This would then provide a rigid backing. 8) This product should not be sold in prepackaged units. This generates a tremendous amount of waste. I have 34 full 8’ lengths of wall brackets left over!

Awesome ceiling but...
I bought this ceiling piece by piece last year. Now they only come in $93 bundle packs. I needed on more length but now I can't buy singles I'd have to buy a full pack. Horrible idea.

Great product
I used this system in a small bathroom rather than replace existing ancient tiles. I combined this with a waterproof ceiling tile that is waterproof. Very easy to install and looks great. Online tutorials really show how easy this is.Online estimator avaialble too. I will use it again soon.

Love the product and the results.
Great looking when done. Not as simple to install as shown in the video, but it's a doable installation for the average diyer's.

Ok product
I am happy with the product and the installation. What I really find frustrating is the way it is sold. A 64 SQUARE ft kit is ok if you have a perfect 8x8 ceiling.Would like to buy extra pieces outside of the whole kit for a reasonable price. Very expensive if you only one or two pieces

Looks good, but tricky toinstall
Great concept and looks good when installed. Lack of clarity in installation measurements. Cross strips are tricky (23” edge to edge) . Use a tile to measure and ensure centre strip is clear.

Great for already low ceiling locations
We have installed three of these kits in the basement of our home and are pleased with the finished look.
Does take a little more effort than the installation video shows, but it always does.

this item is great if your room is 8 X 8 but our room is 11 X 5 and even though it was only 55 square feet we did not have enough pieces for our room due to off cuts we needed to make in order to ensure ceiling tiles were uniform . It was fairly easy to put up but definetly took 2 of us.
