Garage Ceiling Storage at its best!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] One of the most overlooked areas for garage storage is the ceiling and upper walls. We purchased four of the HyLoft Overhead Storage Racks when we moved into our new Denver, NC home last May, and it’s one of the best storage investments we’ve ever made. The heavy duty racks and arms can hold more than enough weight for long term storage for just about anything. It’s been great keeping everything off the garage floor, and we can still get two cars into the garage. This is a must for any homeowner who wants to maximize space to stay organized.

5 stars EASY INSTALL!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed some extra storage in my garage and found these at my local Lowes store. It took me less an Hour and a half to install 3 of these. While installing pre-drill the holes then take off the top brackets from the downrod. Now you only have to hold the small bracket, bolt and wrench when screwing into the joists. Pull the downrod up to your bracket slip the bolt through and repeat! Super easy. I am planning to buying 2 more and getting everything I can off my garage floor. 250 pound limit.

Good product but..
It only installs parallel with your joists, unless you install a runner of some sort perpendicular to your joists to allow for perpendicular mounting.
The mounting feet that attach to joists are elongated to only fit the joist running parallel, it changed my install plan but it was ok for me.
I can hold 12 of the-20 gallon totes and have some room for odd accessories like a truck hitch bike rack. I bought some hyloft utility hooks off amazon and hang my bikes off the rack as well.
Because I have a low ceiling, i also bought some 1/4 foam pipe insulation and wrapped it around the low hanging rails in the head "bonk" zone, like a roll bar on a jeep, and also bought rubber thread caps to cover the exposed screw threads so i don't bang or catch my head on them.
A trick for installing lag bolts into joists is to predrill holes and then put a few drops of dish soap on threads before cranking them in, gives it some lube and eventually will dry without harming wood

Product information lacks important detail
The storage rack design is simple and pretty easy to assemble. However, the packaging and online information about this item is missing a key piece of information: the rafter spacing must be between 24” and 36”.
Our rafters are 20” apart, so no mounting solution other than adding a brace to the ceiling would get me to the right installation.
I reached out to Knape by phone, email and Twitter and they never responded.
I hung my rack with the supports at a 40” spacing and we are using it to hold folding tables, which should be well under the rated capability.

Great product
Put 4 of these up over the weekend. Went up simple and fast. Very well engineered. As one reviewer said, pre drill and a little soap. Also use a six point socket on the lag bolts. I used two drills, one with a bit and one with a socket. Adjusted all the lengths and tightened all but the support bar bolts before hanging them.

Garage storage
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is was easy to install but takes time doing it alone. The brackets come pre-assembled. Use some soap on the lag bolts before screwing into the predrilled holes. Makes then go in easier.

Exactly what I needed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the perfect size for my tight “2 car” garage. I alreAdy have lots of shelving units on the ground, and this was a perfect fit above... for seasonal and less frequently used items.
Although I secured the lags into joists only 24 inches apart, the shelf overhanging the frame isn’t that bad, and the carriage bolts seem to work holding the platform of shelving in place. I have only had it up a day and likely am not going to be putting 250 lbs of items up top, but I am confident in its ability to hold all I need.
I can see where the nuts may need to
Be tightened or at least checked once or twice a year, for security.
Once I figured out how far apart my beams were, installation was pretty easy.
Now that I have one installation “under my belt,” I feel I cluld install subsequent units in about 15 minutes, if needed (and I am a female). Not difficult for one person. My rachet wrench did the trick for the main lag bolts.
