Exactly what I needed in replacement cooktop!
#1 reason is for an easier surface to clean when there are drips and spills. The continuous "basin" provides that, along with easy to clean under the removable burners.
#2 is the gas shut off switch that provides extra protection should earthquake happen (we have them here) along with not accidentally turning on a burner.
#3 are the variety of burner sizes and capabilities for those times one needs different cooking strengths at the same time.
#4 the griddle fits snugly over the 2 left burners with a "catch" groove so the fat doesn't overflow,
#5 the grates over the entire unit fit snugly, yet are easy to lift and clean as necessary.

Heavy duty, versatile, spacious
Our stove was installed a couple weeks ago and I L.O.V.E. love it! I can put a 12-inch pan on the center burner and still have room to put things on the two right-hand burners. The griddle cooked six small pancakes at once. Love that you can bring the griddle over to the sink to wash it. My previous stove had an integrated griddle that I had to wash in place. This is better. Love the versatility of the burners, too. I melted chocolate on one, seared meat on another. Very happy! Haven't found anything I don't like about it yet.

cooks well, but surface is fragile
this didn't survive the first pass from our housekeeper. scratches easily, and not easily repairable since the surface seems to have a coating on it. attempting to polish out scratches leaves a different finish. can't really recommend it.

Waste of Money - Should give it Zero stars
Replaced my 30" cook top (from another manufacturer) with this piece of garbage. What a mistake. Installed in September 2019 - now 15 months later the cast iron grates are chipped (guess they aren't really cast iron). The brushed bronze knobs are plastic and peeling. The stainless scratches far to easily and is a huge pain to keep clean. And the topper is that yesterday I noticed that the light for the gas lock had fallen in the hole. GE should be ashamed of itself for letting this garbage out of the factory. Never mind putting the Cafe name on it.

Better Features
I had a model very similar to this one and by far I like this one better. It seems they have changed the child proof control where it turns the gas off instead of a loud buzzing noise like before. Also the grates are a little lighter and seems to be lower to the gas flame which I like because now it cooks hotter and faster. The older model grates were higher above the flame.

I Love This Cooktop
We added this as part of a full kitchen remodel. I love the space between the burners and power. We had a smaller 30" 4 burner Cooktop before. I brew and make cheese so my pot used nearly the entire cooktop but only allowed for one burner to be used. Now my pot fits with lots of room to spare. My wife likes the well lit knobs showing which burner is on and the grates over the burners. We have a few smaller pans and the old cooktop often required a balancing act to keep the pan level. Again, we don't have that issue any more with this beauty!

Does the job, but doesn’t have the durability.
While I love the gas cooktop, it doesn’t clean easily without scratching the stainless surfaces. We use microfiber clothes and the only when necessary scrubby. After 2 years the stainless is ok; it’s scratched but not offensive, just annoying as an owner who sees the swirls. The cast iron grates and the flat top are holding up well. We do use them often.
The knobs on the other hand and little locked light are poorly made for such a “high quality” cooktop.

Overall a great cooktop that scratches too easily
The cafe cooktop was a necessity in my new kitchen. I have always dreamed of having a gas cooktop and since I was doing a major remodel I did some research and decided on this cooktop. Overall I really love this cooktop. The flame is very precise. The low is actually low. My main concern is how quickly and often the stainless steel is scratching. It managed to have several big scratches before it was even installed. It was scratching just from simply trying to clean the tape residue off from the packaging. I am a very cautious person when it comes to taking care of things. I was taking great care to clean this cooktop and it was still scratching. I am honestly concerned about what this expensive cooktop is going to look like in a few months. It's disappointing that such an overall great cooktop could look awful soon.
