are cleats better than staples for 3/4 inch solid hardwood
generally speaking yes they are better they help reducing the crack on the tongue of the hardwood and hold the floor better

Great nails!!
Bought these nail for my pre finished oak hard wood floor. Nails worked great even in the cheap offbrand pnematic nailer!! Decription dosent say but they will nail down 200 sq ft of 3 1/2 inch flooring per box nailing them every 6-8 inches!! Nails wont break or pull out of subfloor so if you missfire one you gotta use the side cutters to clip the head off then set them with a nail set!!

Be careful with the package labels
Please note that these are 16 Guage cleats. I could not find anywhere in the Lowe's description of this product that says this. I needed 18 Guage cleats.

for a more perfect installation
These nails worked with the nail gun that I used. We tried other less-expensive cleats but they would jam and not give a continuous smooth operation on the installation of 3/4" wood.

Goes through Hickory 3/4 hardwood
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used these on quite a bit of flooring. I tried staples on the first 300 square feet and fought those things the whole way. They just sometimes would not drive in the hickory and would fold and I would have to pull them out with 90 degree pliers. This was painstaking.
So I figured out how to load these into the flooring gun after some research. I used these on the rest of the house. Go in every time. I have had only one in over 5000 nails to not drive. These are holding all my flooring pretty well. Many people say the staples hold better but if they wont drive in then to me they aren't going to work.
Very glad these are made. They will pull some warped boards back straight.

Bostitch Floor Nails
I got these nails to use with my Bostitch Floor Nailer. I credit the tool itself for doing an outstanding job, but I bet generic nails wouldn't have been so easy to work with. I replaced the entire floor in my house, some with tiles but most with hardwood flooring. Not once did the nailer jam. Not once did a nail fail. I can't say enough good things about this quality tool and nails.

Good fastener
Shot about 3000 on our recent flooring install.
Fed well - no major jamb issues.
Installed clean in 99.9 of the cleats driven.
Cleat does break off clean w/ pliers if you get one that does not fully sink.
