Can this be used with vinyl plank flooring?
Most vinyl flooring, especially floating require an underlayment specific for floating floors and should not exceed 1.5mm thickness or the locking joints will disengage due to the give in the underlayment.

Does the vapor barrier goes directly against the concrete or against the laminate floor itself
I normally install vapor barrier up... makes moving laminate boards on the underlay easier too, I find with moisture barrier down it rips easier.

Can this also be used under engineered hardwood??

GOOD FOR THE PRICE
I've installed Pergo using the very expensive "Whisper-Walk" underlayment at about $1.75 per foot and now a very inexpensive laminate flooring using this foam product that covers 100 square feet for less than $25. I honestly believe that in terms of value for the money this material wins. My only caution would be plan ahead for the "self adhesive" overlay process. After the first run my son and I discovered that you can save a lot of annoyance by taping down the film edges straught and neat using easy release painter's tape. Then you can actually get the next layer attached nice and even. Otherwise you may find yourslf struggling with some ripples.

Simple and easy to use
This underlayment is simple and easy to use. Just start from the left and work right folding out the 4" vapor barrier as you go. The adhesive strip is not the best I've seen but it gets the job done. As an extra precaution, I used clear packing tape over each of the joints to ensure they stayed in place, also so you don't accidentally kick the seams as you are working. I would not recommend using staples under any laminate flooring. Clear tape worked great. My first 150 sq ft room went great. 1800 sq ft more to go. I will use this product during my entire install.

Wood Floor Underlay that fits the bill!
I have installed many wood floors over the years and underlayment is just one of the things you have to deal with. This product is great and at a good price. The flap on one end and the tape on the other makes this one of the best underlayments I have ever used. You don't have to mess with tape unless you cut it in a different spot than along you seam and the rolls seem to be packaged in such a way that they don't get all bunched up on one end. Really like this product and would highly recommend it use on your next flooring project.

Good noise reduction
I used about 100 sq ft of this product to install an 8mm stone pattern laminate over an old slate mudjob in my front and rear entry halls plus about another 75 sq ft over a plywood subfloor on my second floor. It has a very slightly springy quality when you step on it which I like, but the surpising thing to me was that there is no clicky, clacky, hollow sound at when you step on the laminate like I have experienced in several locations with laminate floors. As others have said, buy tape because the joining tape included in the roll is not very helpful. I am buying more of this to put down in the bedrooms where we are ripping up the carpets rather than using laminate with an attached underlayment because I am so satisfied with the sound reduction.

Great underlayment
I just put down over 50 sq ft of Mohawk laminate flooring and chose this product to put underneath. I read the reviews, and everyone said it was great, but that it 'tore' easily. It was great, but as long as anything wasn't dropped on it or such, I had no issues.
Yes, I highly recommend it, especially at the price.
Oh, the instructions I read were to run the underlayment 'counter' to the direction of the flooring. I did not, and have had no issues. And I'm glad I did; the sectional runs worked out well that way for spacing. Good luck!

worked very nicely even with bamboo in basement
This kept my bamboo floor dry and warm even in the basement, where bamboo is NOT recommended. But even after 1 year, the basement floor is nice and flat.

Easy to install, must be careful.
This made our floors feel somewhat cushy and quiet when installed on a concrete floor. This product is fairly easy to tear so be careful when installing it.

Okay product
Did tear easily. I recommend that you only put it down row by row to keep the tearing to a minimum.
