Great tool
I have several different version's of the work mate and this is the best. Contrary to other reviews the one handed feature still allows for independent adjustment of left and right clamp screws they operate on a friction clutch that just needs a little extra force holding one and turning the other to break free and slip for clamping uneven sized objects

An effective replacement for an older model
I had an earlier version that lasted for years. It was scarred and scratched and sawn into and a bit rusty in spots, but it was tough and still going strong. Unfortunately, it was stolen in a garage break-in. The new one is in some ways better, in others not as good as the old one.
Pro - Wider bench, more versatile with removable boards and vertical clamping. The laminated bamboo boards are "green" because bamboo grows quickly. I do like the larger work surface for laying out parts, and the removable boards offer some versatility for clamping larger parts. I haven't found the vertical clamping all that useful so far, though future projects may change my mind.
Con - The old one had cast aluminum for the frame and many parts instead of pressed steel; laminated hardwood boards in place of bamboo; individually adjustable clamping left and right instead of the synchronized handles; larger cutouts for tubing; metal springs for the lower legs instead of plastic. This version does not seem as sturdy or durable and the clamping mechanism seems floppy and flimsy compared to the old one (because of the vertical clamping swivel).
Eventually I'll probably cut the belt that joins the left and right handles so I can adjust for irregular parts, though I'll check first that the individual handles can flex enough, or modify them so they can. This IMO is the poorest "improvement" over my original workmate.
