This fantastic little handheld vacuum from Bissell is called the Pet Hair Eraser, and it's perfect for, well, picking up pet hair! It's lightweight, compact and comes with a contour nozzle for stairs and upholstery, and a hard nozzle for dry items like spilled food or kitty litter. This model weighs less than 4 pounds and is backed by a 1-year limited warranty.

This one does not weigh a lot and I can use it in spite of my age (89); in other words, it is exactly what I needed to keep clean stairs. [I would not bother writing a review if it were not for the sweepstakes -- I understand I have to use that word in the review, and so I did.]

I bought this Pet-Hair Eraser specifically to vacuum the stairs. Before buying it (online, directly from Bissell), I checked ratings and recommendations. It works beautifully and is light enough for an older person who cleans her steps all by herself. Would buy it again any time (it won't happen though: the Pet-Hair Eraser will outlive me -- I am 88+).
