Blacktop driveway repair
I'm using this with Crack-Stix to repair the cracks crossing my asphalt driveway. So far, the trigger start has been very reliable. Had never used a propane torch before, so was very hesitant, but this has worked great, allowing me to stand up while melting the Crack-Stix and putting distance between me, the flame and the hot asphalt. Was very surprised that Lowes' price was twenty dollars less than Amazon's when I ordered. Amazon has now lowered their price, but Lowes' price is still better. Picked up some needed LED light bulbs to get in on Lowes' free shipping, and both items were here within a few days. Good deal!

Excellent product
Delivery was on time. Attached the propane bottle, pushed the starter switch and it ignited right away. Already have one that has lasted over 5 years and is still going strong, first time push with instant ignite, wanted this one for another property. It is easy to hold and a perfect length to ground (I am 5 ft 4). Works excellent on unwanted younger weeds and grass, older more established growth may need to be redone. If you can stand the smell of burning greenery this is the product for you. I always wear a mask. Remember when using an open flame to protect any objects that are flammable near where you are eradicating greenery.

Good for some things and not so good for others
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First off this thing is awesome as far as torches go. I have found it great for starting camp fires. As far as weed control goes not so great. Maybe if you had a small yard and only working with a few weeds. My driveway is gravel and about 100 yards long. It gets weeds growing in it and I usually spray them. I thought I would try this as it would be effective in colder temps where weed killer would not work. It will kill a weed but it takes some time for it burn a green weed. I spent a good 15 minutes when I first got it and in that time I might of took care of 5 or 6 weeds in a driveway full of them.

Qualifies as organic weed control!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Kills all types of weeds.
Best used after a rain so you do not catch your wood mulch on fire!
You do not have to use it until the need burns away.
The short heating cycle does just as good as incinerating it completely!
Works every time if it fails someday I will buy another.
If you go out and pull each weed by hand or hoe, you are pruning it.
This is death, totally.
I would suggest having a fully charged and purged hose within reach.
It is possible to catch dry mulch on fire!
And that spreads fast.

fire broom of death (to weeds)
Well, I let my weeds go this year, and they were pretty bad. the side of my house is gravel and the weeds had pretty much taken over. I went to pick this up at Lowes and had some difficulty finding the item. Turns out, it wasn't where the inventory list had it listed, it was in another spot. The Lowes employee that helped me find it, was awesome.
So I started out with this connected to a 1lb propane bottle. Think the camping type. It worked ok, was doing the job, but I was thinking I should of went with the bigger one. Then I switched over to my 20# propane tank. That was like going from a prius to a corvette. The bigger tank about tripled the flame output, and the weeds started melting. The only bad thing about this, is that it doesn't come with the hose to connect the wand to a 20" propane tank. Fortunately, I had one in my camping gear. I did like the fact that it comes with an igniter, so you don't have to use a lighter or match.
Over all I would buy again for residential use.

Mine is over 3 years old now.
I can't say enough about this unit. It cleans up the weeds great. I came to this site to try to find replacement parts. No such luck. The trigger starter stopped working this week. Still works well with w lighter but I'm hoping to find parts. So far no luck I marked quality down a bit because of this starter failing so early. I may revise the entire review if I can't find a replacement starter. This is my second weed torch. I gave the other as a gift.

WORKS GREAT
LIGHT WEIGHT, EASY POINT AND SHOOT... YOU DON'T GET TIRED LIKE HAULING AROUND THOSE 20 LB PROPANE TANKS AND THE HUGH BLOW TORCH WEED BURNER THAT YOU COULD BURN DOWN YOUR GARAGE WITH. I UNPACKAGED IT, HOOKED UP A 16 OZ TANK AND WENT OUT AND BLASTED ALL THE SMALL WEEDS QUICKLY AND THEN WAS ABLE TO GO RIGHT BACK AND PUT WEEK KILLER ON THE GROUND... I WON'T HAVE TO WEED MY YARD FOR MONTHS...... YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THIS LITTLE GIANT!

WOW! MUST-HAVE GARDENING TOOL!
For YEARS I have been combating very annoying, ugly grass growing in our gravel driveway. I cannot use weedkiller such as Roundup because I have a dog that walks on it and I refuse to use any type of chemicals where he walks. I've tried everything besides that; boiling water, "earth safe" weedkiller, boiling water, cutting off sunlight, it doesn't work. The grass constantly would grow back, and furthermore grow very thick, itching my poor dogs feet/stomach walking through it to get to the garden.
I did some research and discovered they sell gardening torches like this one. I've never heard of such a thing before and was skeptical about how well it would work or how much propane it would use. Lowes had one left in stock near me of the BernzOmatic model and I decided to bite the bullet. I bought two bottles of the propane to go along with it. I weed-whacked all the grass real short and tried out the torch immediately afterwards. I am completely blown away with the results! I must have killed all the grass in my driveway in a nice, 40/sq. ft area. My driveway is nice again, I can see all the nice, white gravel, the grass is no longer tall and itches my dog. Furthermore, it is NOT growing back. It works better than Roundup (which I have used in other parts of the house where the dog does not walk).
I can't say enough good things about this torch. Sometimes it's hard to get started, but it will eventually ignite. And when it does, it REALLY gets the job done. It cooks the grass/weeds down to the root. You just have to make sure you burn the heck out of the grass, cook it good, leave no green and burn the roots! It's lightweight, easy to use, and has an adjustable flame. You may have some scorched ground afterwards but it washes away quickly in a good rain or hose down. I'm really happy with it and very glad I bought it. Simple device, probably a bit overpriced, but it's safe, effective, gets the job done, and is eco-friendly for the garden and pets. I'd recommend this over Roundup. I will never use chemicals again with this. It's just so much safer to use and more cost-efficient in the long run. I want to say I am incredibly impressed at how far one little propane tank goes. I mean, it will last you several hours before needing to swap a new propane tank on. I see it being so much astronomically more cost-friendly than $20~ bottles of Roundup.
It is time-consuming to do an area, but well worth it, and much more permanent. It probably took me total about 4~ hours to do these couple spots in my driveway. But, I will say, it's fun, kind of relaxing watching the grass/weeds burn. And it's permanent. I uploaded some pictures. Both of these spots in my driveway had grass growing up to 3 feet high about 3~ weeks ago. This is the end result after using the BernzOmatic torch. I want to say we also had one week of rain and it did NOT grow back. It works extremely well.
Seriously, buy this torch. Don't even hesitate, it is a great investment. I'm also looking forward to using this thing to melt ice in a few months!
