Can this be easily cut down to a shorter length?
Yes you can cut it. This countertop is actually laminated bamboo throughout. It does not have an MDF core. I have a sample in my Lowe's store that came from a sink cut-out. It looks exactly the same as the outer edges. This section has been used to try out different stains. My favourite is a dark brown stain, as there are gorgeous golden highlights visible.

Can this countertop be cut? Has anyone had success doing so?
Yes, I was able to cut this counter using a circular saw. It is solid laminated bamboo, but you may get some small wood gaps in the core, that could be filled with wood filler. the cut edge will have a different pattern than the other edges when you cut it. It is best to hide the cut edge, but you can also finish the cut edge to be visible, if you are not picky about the laminations showing.

What are the measurements of this top?
Counter tag shows 25.5" x 72", Island shows 39.75" x 73.25". I didn't think to get a thickness off of them while in store.

What is the best way to treat this piece for longevity? I purchased an "as-is" item with no packaging and cant seem to find the supplier website.
I used it for a counter top covering the washer and dryer in the laundry room. I applied 2 coats of polyurethane but if you are using it in the kitchen, look for a food grade oil and apply once a year.

After installing this countertop and using a mineral oil to finish, I am pulling up the occasional splinter from the surface leaving a gouge in the top. Can these be repaired? How?
I am thinking about coating the surface with a food safe two part epoxy resin of some kind...Probably a good idea to get a bamboo cutting board on top and use that for cutting to minimize the damage issue I would suspect.

Looks great but does not last
We bought one of these about 7 months ago. Applied Tung oil to top surface, flipped and re-applied Tung oil. Did this several times over a month long period. The top developed a crack along the length. By now, it has several cracks and the layers are separating in several locations (these are made with a thicker layer of laminated bamboo sandwiched between two thin layers of very visually appealing laminated layers). The top looks beautiful, but splits and cracks too easily. I continually applied a thin layer of oil, wiping off excess, and always wiped off any spills. I believe the epoxy used in the lamination process was not effective during the manufacture of these tops.
Incidentally, for those wondering, Tung oil is a great, food safe oil that enriches the natural colours of the bamboo. If you don't plan on staining, then Tung oil is a great treatment.

Best bang for your buck - perfect toolbox topper
Purchased this to top my partners Snap-On tool box which is wider than a standard box. Their wood tops are far pricier for less material. This size top only needed two cuts to bring it to proper dimensions for covering the box (one off the end and another down one long side - both pieces can be used afterwards for a shelf or other project). It was easy to cut on a table saw with a helper, as it is heavy - it was not as "hard" as the store person said it would be to cut. They do not cut it with their saws. Thickness is excellent for the price. Lamination style looks good (even when cut, the open edge blends nicely with sanding), but also boasts strength and durability. Tung oil application to keep it looking new and help fight off grease stains.
Only downside I have seen since purchasing is that the top bowed slightly (after cutting, we did not mount it to the tool box right away or apply oil, as we wanted to router a grooved edge to fit the tool box lip). During this time we had it leaning against a wall and it bowed a small amount, however after mounting it, it still fit well. To avoid this, I would recommend cutting the top to your desired size, sealing, and mounting as soon as possible.
Beautiful material and no issues thus far. Stain resistance is rated as good in this review, but have yet to report actual findings about this feature.

Heavy and solid, but annoying to cut
The countertop is amazing! It looks great in our laundry room and is stupidly heavy -- making a noticeable difference in how loud our washer/dryer sound.
It was too wide and too deep for us, so we ripped it with the grain and against the grain. This is where it became obvious that bamboo is grass, not wood, and that the countertop is thin strands of bamboo glued together. Cutting against the grain left a decent amount of loose strands along the cut. I sliced off the strands using a utility knife, then lightly sanded.
I'm hesitant to use a router on it because of these strands, so I left the edges square.
That minor annoyance aside, it's solid throughout and soaked up a good amount of tung oil -- about 1/3rd of a 1L bottle of Minwax Tung Oil. We'll probably oil the top one more time in the next few weeks, then coat with a few layers of polyurethane.
